Dynamite Announces Madballs vs. Garbage Pail Kids Slime Again Issue #3

The comic story of how Madballs and GPK met continues! Dynamite Comics has announced Madballs vs. Garbage Pail Kids Slime Again Issue #3. The preview for this issue reads, “The Garbage Pail Kids and Madballs ride the range as cowpokes (hey, someone’s got to poke those cows). But their competition to see who can make their ghost town more ghastly soon means this town ain’t big enough for the both of them! Plus: In the world of 1950s drag-racing greasers, there’s nobody greasier than the Madballs and the Garbage Pail Kids! When they go head-to-disembodied head in a drag race of souped-up hot rods (powered by the high-octane of week-old cabbage soup), it’s winner take all!” The comic is written by Sholly Frisch with all the artwork done by Jason Crosby. Once again there are covers from Joe Simko, Crosby, and a special Vintage Foght Poster by Ken Haeser. There are sure to be a number of limited and exclusive cover variants also released. The comics should be available to preorder wherever comics are sold. Slime Again #3 is scheduled to hit comic store shelves on Apr. 12, 2023.

The comic series that shows the world just how the Garbage Pail Kids met the Madballs continues with their second issue. Dynamite Entertainment has posted the preview for Madballs vs. Garbage Pail Kids Slime Again Issue #2. The preview for this issue reads, “Arrrh, mateys!   Weigh anchor for horrible hijinks on the high seas as the Madballs set sail for a pirate adventure with Skullface on their flag and…well, never mind what’s on the poop deck.  Plus: Italy in the 16th Century: The Sistine Chapel needs a paint job…and the GPK and Madballs both want the gig!  There’s only one way to choose: a no-holds-barred paint-off!” The comic is written by Sholly Frisch with all the artwork by Jason Crosby. Covers for this issue are being done by Crosby, Joe Simko, and a fight poster done by Ken Haeser. There will be more variant and exclusive covers announced. The comics can be preordered now wherever comics are sold. Issue #2 is scheduled to hit comic stores on 3/15/23.


GPK Phlushers Available Now / Enter to Win Now

Since Garbage Pail Kids debuted they have been featured on just about every type of merchandise item imaginable. However, the history of the GPK brand with plush toys has been sparse. Five years ago, the first GPK plushes were the oddly square Kawaii Cubes that were offered very briefly before the company went out of business. Now License 2 Play Toys is offering two new lines of GPK plush toys, called GPK Phlushers. The company was nice enough to send GPKNews some samples to check out and even give away! Details on the contests are below!

The Core Series 1 GPK Phlushers are a group of 8 inch plush toys based on six of the most popular GPK figures. Each case contains Adam Bomb, Dead Ted, Leaky Lindsay, New Wave Dave, Tee-Ver Stevie, and Nat Nerd. Each figure is tagged with a card sized tag showing all the characters to collect.

Their second product being offered are the GPK Phlusher Series 1 Mini Blind Bag Clip-On Plush. There are 12 different 3.5 inch mini plushes to collect. Each plush has a bag clip to attach your favorites onto a backpack. The characters appear in three different rarities; Common (Adam Bomb, Starin Darren, Sy Clops, Eerie Eric, Nasty Nick, and Spilt Kit), Uncommon (Mad Mike, Leaky Lindsay, Tee-Vee Stevie, New Wave Dave, and Weird Wendy), and Rare (Dead Ted). Each case contains 18 blind bags. Each pack also comes with a paper foldout showing all the characters in the series. The case I busted contained an entire set, and doubles of the common characters.

The core GPK Phlushers are available  individually for $14.99-$19.99. They can also be purchased by the case. Topps Files Trademark for Garbage Pail Kwacks

GetAGrip Launches Chrome GPK Skateboard Decks & Neon Sign

GetAGrip Slateboards is back with new shiny toys for the holiday season. Today the company launched two new Chrome Garbage Pail Kids  Skateboard Decks, silver and gold. For $120 collectors will receive either a silver deck /90 or a gold deck /30. This time around there are no extras or cards with this sale, collectors only receive a deck.

The company also launched a neon Garbage Pail Kids sign. The sign measures 110cm x 21cm and is a replica of the sign used at this year’s NYCC by Topps. The sign is limited to /50 copies and comes with a hefty price tag of $499.99. You can bling out your GPK cave is style.

PolyPhony GPK Adam Bomb Vinyl Figure Coming Soon To China

PolyPhony, a Chinese company focusing on pop culture items, showed off their GPK license debut at this past weekend’s DesignerCon. The company posted an image of a large 15” prototype Adam Bomb vinyl figure that was featured at their DesignerCon booth. The figure shown at the show isn’t the final product as the company is still working on the final form. It’s expected the figure will be distributed in the Greater China region. GPK collectors in other parts of the world will have to get creative to import. No pricing or release date is available yet. GPKs are taking over the world!

Madballs vs. Garbage Pail Kids to be Part of 2023 National Free Comic Book Day

The Madballs vs. Garbage Pail Kids comic book series from Dynamite Comics has been chosen to be part of the 2023 National Free Comic Book Day. A special comic featuring a collection of stories from the first Madballs vs GPK series will be offered for free in comic book stores across the country. The popular promotion is scheduled to take place on May 6, 2023.

The partnership between Garbage Pail Kids and Madballs will continue in the comics. Dynamite Comics announced Madballs vs. Garbage Pail Kids Slime Again Issue #1. This will be the second limited comic series to feature the two iconic 80’s brands together. This time the story will tell the origins of the their feud through the history of time. The preview for this issue reads, “In this issue: At the dawn of time, the Earth is ruled by furry, apelike beasts – oh, wait, that’s just Kim Kong!  From their neighboring caves, the Cro-Madballs and Neanderthal Pail Kids constantly try to one-up each other! Plus: the star-crossed crush between Hornhead and Scary Carrie triggers war between the Trojan GPK and Greek Madballs!” Jason Crosby returns as the artist of the comics, along with writer Sholly Fisch. So far there are announced covers from Joe Simko, Jason Crosby, and a vintage fight poster cover. There are sure to be many move limited covers announced. The comic will be available to preorder soon wherever comics are sold. Issue #1 is set to his store shelves on Feb. 15, 2023.

Topps Announces Garbage Pail Kids California Takeover ComplexCon Set

Update #2: According to an article on Forbes, there will be 500 boxes of the GPK California Takeover available at the show. This confirms information GPKNews has also heard. In a Tweet Topps said there would be limited boxes available each day of the show.

Update: GPKNews heard back from Topps with details on the set. The set is indeed a 40 card base set, 20 subjects with a/b versions. Collectors can also pull random C Name cards for all 20 subjects as well. In addition, each pack comes with a foil or sketch card. Foil cards come as; Rainbow (not numbered), Blue (/10), Red (/5), and Gold (1/1). A total of 9 artists did sketch cards for the set; Brandhen Snyder (60), Chris Meeks (50), Eric Medina (50), Jasmine Contois (70), David Acevedo (70), Mike Stephens (50), Nik Castaneda (70), Victor Moreno (70), and Chenduz (70). The base card checklist can be found here. Boxes will be available at the Topps Booth at ComplexCon with a price of $100 per box.

Topps has a long partnership with the annual ComplexCon shows. This year is no exception as today Topps announced Garbage Pail Kids California Takeover ComplexCon set. The set features GPKs with an LA twist. For the first time the ComplexCon set will only be available at the Topps booth (A10) at this weekend’s show, it doesn’t appear online sales are planned. There aren’t a lot of details available yet on the set. Topps released information earlier today via their Instagram account. The set will be sold in 5 pack boxes. Each box contains five 8-card packs. Each pack has 7 base cards and either a foil or sketch card. It’s unclear what the exact structure of the set is. Artwork for the set was done by Brent Engstrom, David Gross, Joe Simko, Joe McWilliams, and Neil Camera. Each artist did 4 pieces for the set. If the set contains a/b versions that would make the base set 40 cards total. It’s also not clear how many different foil cards or what they are numbered to. There is no card checklist or sketch artist checklist available yet. Topps does say supplies of the set will be limited. There is also no information on the price of the boxes. Swag Golf Launching Dead Ted Golf Head Covers

Swag Golf looks to be back in the swing of things with their second Garbage Pail Kids golf head cover this month. According to their Instagram account, they will be launching the Dead Ted golf head cover this Thursday at 1:00 PM CDT. The cover can be purchased at the Swag Golf website. Anyone who buys the Dead Ted cover will have the chance to receive the rarer Jay Decay version of the cover. Swag Golf products will sell out fast! Collectors will need to be quick to get their latest GPK cover.
