Adam Bomb Mis-Fortune-Telling Machine to Debut at NYCC

Step right up and Adam Bomb will tell you your misfortune! Topps will debut their new Adam Bomb Mis-Fortune-Telling Machine at this year’s New York Comic Con. The machine is built by the same company that built the Zoltar fortune telling machines. There is a full animatronic Adam Bomb complete with sound track. For a fee, collectors will have their misfortune told and receive a special Garbage Pail Kids misfortune card. No details on the cards or pricing are available yet. Collectors will want to be sure to visit the Topps booth (#2819) for all their misfortune telling needs. Here are the details as released by Topps:

Global Debut of Adam Bomb ‘Mis-Fortune-Telling Machine’ (Topps booth # 2819) – custom built by the same company who created the popular ‘Zoltar’ machine as seen in the 1988 hit movie BIG. This first-of-its-kind unit will feature an animatronic 3-D Adam Bomb character, complete with lights, sound effects, voice track and pulsating mushroom cloud. Players will receive a special GPK ‘Mis-Fortune’ Card upon completion of each turn. Credit card payment accepted.

Super Impulse to Launch Pop Taters GPK Adam Bomb Toy

Super Impulse, the company behind the GPK Micro Figures, will be using their GPK license in a new Pop Taters toy line. According to Transformers news site TFormers.com, Adam Bomb will be included in the toy line based off the popular Mr. Potato Head toys. In conjunction with Hasbro, the first wave of Pop Taters will include various characters from the licenses Super Impulse has. Some characters include Adam Bomb, Optimus Prime, Bob Ross and others. According to the first ad’s for the toys, they will include interchangeable parts. The toys will come in two versions, a 4” version with interchangeable parts and a 2” keychain version. No release date has been mentioned, although the advertisement mentioned they are new for 2022.

Odds for 2021 Garbage Pail Kids Sapphire

2021 Garbage Pail Kids Sapphire are starting to show up on collector’s doorsteps. Thanks to Twitter user SpaceCityPulls for posting the box odds. While Topps didn’t promise two hits per box in the listing, it does appear they are sticking to that based on the odds. Sadly Topps’ odds are not all the same when running the numbers. That could be due to rounding of the odds before printing. Regardless, based on the odds there are anywhere from a high of 23,141 boxes, based on Teal odds, to a low of 21,292, based on Pad odds. So right around 22,000 boxes of 2021 GPK Sapphire out there. Almost all boxes should have 2 hits, with some having 3. The box busted by this collector had 3 hits. Here are the odds:

Topps Reveals 9-Card Puzzle Giveaway for NYCC

Topps today revealed the artwork being used for their Trading Card Giveaway at this year’s New York Comic Con. Collectors can collect all 9 pieces of the puzzle at various booths around the show. Once put together, the image reveals GPKs taking on New York City in a spoof of the NY Post. Artwork for the puzzle was done by artist Chris Meeks. Each booth will have a limited number of cards available each day of the show. Collectors will want to make it a priority to arrive early as these cards will go quickly. The list of booths is in the picture below. NYCC is fast approaching, scheduled to start in just 10 days taking place 10/6-10/9.

Public Launch Begins for 2021 Garbage Pail Kids Sapphire

After launching yesterday to Topps Montgomery Club members, today the public sale began for 2021 Garbage Pail Kids Sapphire. Boxes are available now at Topps.com. The price remains the same at $129.99 plus shipping. Surprisingly, the sales listing shows there is a cart limit of 2, and a customer limit of 4 boxes. The listing also states boxes will ship in 10-15 days. Boxes might go quick, so collectors shouldn’t wait before purchasing a box.

Dynamite Comics Previews Garbage Pail Kids Origin Issue #3

The comic story behind the origins of GPKs is set to come to a dramatic conclusion. Dynamite Comics has released the preview for Garbage Pail Kids Origins Issie #3. This is the final issue in the short comic series that was the brain child of Jeff Zapata. Like the other issues, the comic was written by Zapata, Adam F. Goldberg, and Hans Rodionoff. Zapata and Chris Meeks did the artwork for the comic, while Dustin’s Graham worked on coloring in this issue. The preview for this issue reads, “The stunning conclusion to the most important Garbage Pail Kids comic book OF ALL TIME! This unprecedented “origin” series has an epic conclusion you DO NOT WANT TO MISS!” Covers being offers for this release were done by Zapata, Tom Bunk, Frank Kadar, and a trading card cover featuring Adam Boom. There are also virgin covers of all three being offered, along with many more to be announced in the coming weeks. Preorders will be available wherever comics are sold. The final GPK Origins Issue #3 is set to hit store shelves 12/14/22.

2021 GPK Sapphire Public Sale Pushed Back a Day

Everyone stop pressing F5! According to sources at Topps, the planned public sale of 2021 Garbage Pail Kids Sapphire has been pushed back to tomorrow. No reasons were giving as to why. As of 2:30 EST the Topps website has not been updated at all today, including the popular Topps Now daily baseball cards. GPK Collectors can take the rest of the day off. Topps Launches 2021 Garbage Pail Kids Sapphire

Garbage Pail Kids collecting changed forever with the release of GPK Sapphire at the end of 2020. Topps is back with the follow up set to the hugely successful initial release. Thanks to SPK for the pictures of the release. Today Topps launched 2021 Garbage Pail Kids Sapphire to Montgomery Club members. Montgomery Club is a yearly club Topps previously offered that allows for early prerelease purchase of exclusive online boxes. The 2021 label and box printing shows Topps had this set planned for a 2021 release, but was delayed like other GPK releases. The new set features all the original cards from OS 3 and OS 4. The additional four “B” name changes from OS 4 are also included, making the set a total of 170 cards. Each box contains 32 cards in eight 4-card packs. The lure of Sapphire are the various numbered parallels. While the first GPK Sapphire release advertised 2 parallels inside each box, the pictures of the new box do not show that same information. The new listing also does not promise any guaranteed parallels in each box. Topps does list the parallels available in the boxes, they added a new one numbered to /75. The parallels are; Blue /99, Fuchsia /75, Green /50, Orange /25, Gold /15, Purple /10, Red /5, and Pad 1/1. There are no odds listed to figure out possible print runs. Boxes are available for $129.99, plus shipping. The lists says boxes will ship in 15-25 days. Topps is limiting purchases to 1 box per account. While there have been no announcements from Topps, it’s expected there will be a public sale starting tomorrow, 9/21, to non Club members with similar order restrictions.

2021 Garbage Pail Kids Sapphire Available to Montgomery Club Members Tomorrow


Topps Montgomery Club Members received an email today informing them that 2021 Garbage Pail Kids Sapphire will be available tomorrow, 9/20, for members. Thanks to SPK for a picture of the email sent to members. The box advertises 8 4-card packs for a total of 32 cards. Bony Tony is the cover character for this release. No pricing, parallel, or odds information has been released yet. The boxes are expected to go on sale to the public on Wednesday, 9/21.

Topps today released the checklist for 2021 Garbage Pail Kids Sapphire. Yes, yea it’s being labeled as a 2021 set. Just over a week ago, the release showed up on Topps release calendar for 9/21/22.. The follow up set, to the hugely popular initial Sapphire release, features cards from OS 3 & OS 4. Additionally, Topps has added the 4 additional “B” name cards to push the set total to 170 cards. No other information has been released by Topps including pricing, parallels, or odds. Distribution also isn’t clear. It’s unknown if Montgomery Club members will get first crack at pre-sales tomorrow, 9/20, or if the the sale will be public only on 9/21.
