Philly Non-Sports Card Show on Tap for October

It’s convention season, and that means that the next Philly Non-Sports Card Show will soon be upon us. The show is set to take place October 15 & 16 at the Greater Philadelphia Expo Center in Oaks, PA. Once again, Garbage Pail Kids will have a big presence at the show. Longtime GPK and Wacky Packages artist Neil Camera and GPK sketch artist David Acevedo will be guests at the show. Additional artists scheduled to attend are Neil’s daughter, Halsey Camera, Ted Dastick Jr., and Chris Foreman.

There will once again be a number of official Topps promo cards at the show. Anyone attending on Saturday will receive a GPK Halloween themed card done by Neil Camera. Sunday attendees will receive a Wacky Halloween card done by Halsey Camera. There will also be the traditional Saturday dinner at the Hilton Garden Inn. Anyone interested in attending the dinner should email Roxanne Toser to reserve your spot. Neil and Halsey Camera will be the guest speakers at the dinner. Attendees at the dinner will receive the 1a promo card of Adam & Nick, done by artist David Acevedo. The 1b version, Billy & Eddie, will be given to show attendees on Sunday.

The show will be open Saturday 10/15 from 10:00 AM – 5:00 PM, and Sunday 10/16 from 10:00 AM – 3:00 PM. Tickets will be available at the door for $12 per day or $20 for a two day pass. Another great opportunity for collectors to attend the largest non-sports trading card show in the country!

Topps Announces SDCC Trading Card Scavenger Hunt

Are you going to this year’s San Diego Comic Con? If so Topps has a little game for you. Today, Topps announced a Trading Card Scavenger hunt. There will be nine partner booths, they will each have an exclusive card for collectors. The nine puzzle cards reveal the entire image once completed. Artwork for the puzzle was done by artist Chris Meeks. Topps said that each booth will have cards available each day of the show. Each puzzle piece will be limited to 500 copies of the card. The cards will be free at each booth. Here are the details as revealed by Topps:

Garbage Pail Kids Trading Card ‘Scavenger Hunt’ Coming to San Diego Comic Con! ☀️

Topps is pleased to be hosting a trading card ‘scavenger hunt’ produced exclusively in conjunction with the upcoming the San Diego Comic Con 2022. The promotion is centered around nine newly created GPK ‘puzzle’ cards. One specific card will be available at each of the nine GPK partner booths. Featuring artwork by GPK artist Chris Meeks, when combined, all nine cards reveal a complete scene — certain to delight convention goers and Garbage Pail Kids fans of all ages.

A limited number of ‘puzzle’ cards will be available each day of Comic Con, including Preview Night. A total of 500 cards per participating GPK partner will be distributed – at no cost — while supplies last.

Philly Non-Sports Card Show Set for May

The twice a year Philly Non-Sports Card show is back to their regular schedule. The show returned last October after a two year delay due to Covid restrictions. Now the regular May show schedule and guests are set. The show will once again be held at The Greater Philadelphia Expo Center in Oaks, PA. At this time there are no Covid restrictions for entering the show.

Garbage Pail Kids collectors will recognize many of the faces at this year’s show. OS artist James Warhola, former art director and GPK artist Jeff Zapata, and current artist Chris Meeks will all be featured artists at the show. Artist Ingrid Hardy will also be a featured artist. Former GPK artist Mark Pingitore will have a booth to support his Magic Marker Art company. Adam Bomb himself will be making an appearance both days of the show. There will be a special licensed card passed out in his honor at the show. The “a” version will be passed out Saturday, while the “b” version will be passed out Sunday.

There will be a Saturday night dinner hosted by Sidekick at the Hilton Garden Inn. Cost is $27 per person, anyone interested in a ticket should contact Roxanne Toser. The deadline for hotel reservations for the show hotel is 4/27. Early risers on Sunday will also have the chance to attend the artist card talk session. Admission for the show is $10 per day, or $15 for a two day pass. The show will be open Saturday May 21 from 10:00 AM-5:00 PM and Sunday May 22 from 10:00 AM-3:00 PM. Collectors will not want to miss this show!

More Details on Topps NYCC GPK Plans

As Topps released yesterday, they have a lot in store for this weekend’s New York Comic Con. There are a number of Garbage Pail Kids giveaways and special guests planned for the event. Specific details have started coming out, collectors attending the event now have a good idea what times they need to be at Topps’ booth (#2557) to claim everything.

A brand new expansion set for Oh the Horror-ible will be on sale at the Topps booth during the show. The 10 card set features new artwork based on the popular horror theme. The set will also be available online later in the week on Topps.com. Collectors who purchase the set in person at NYCC will also receive two bonus cards, Buff Bill and Silenced Silas. Pricing for the set has not been revealed as of yet.

Topps will also have a number of free cards at the show. GPK artist Joe Simko will be at the Topps booth, Friday 10/8 and Saturday 10/9 at 12:00 PM, signing 6” x 9” movie poster cards featuring artwork based on the Fury Load animated shorts. Collectors also will have the chance to enter a contest each day of the show to win a large scale version of the movie poster. They also can be the first to see part 3 of Fury Load at Topps’ booth Saturday at 12:00. Collectors not at the show will have to wait until Monday’s release of the video on Topps’ Yourube channel. Also making an appearance the same time as Simko’s booth appearances will be none other than Adam Bomb! Kids and adults alike can take pictures with the GPK icon.

Artist David Gross will be at Topps booth Saturday 10/9 at 2:30 PM signing a reconfigured Food Fight card, Max Wax. He will also be at the 4 Real Breaks booth at 3:30 PM busting GPK packs and doing a short Q & A session.

Topps will also be promoting the upcoming GPK Goes on Vacation with a special Lydia Liberty card. The first 250 collectors to participate in Topps Interactives at their booth on Saturday 10/9 will receive a copy of the card. Topps is also planning giveaways for t-shits, Tom Bunk autos, and more.

Topps Shares New York Comic Con Plans

The return of cons around the country includes this weekend’s annual New York Comic Con. Topps has big plans for the event, with many of them involving the Garbage Pail Kids. Today, Topps shared details of everything they have planned for the con. Topps will be selling a new mini set at the show based off of previous Oh the Horrible releases. Topps is planning on also offering the set online to collectors later this week. While Topps hasn’t yet revealed details, there are plans for an exclusive promo card to be given to collectors who purchase the set at NYCC. There will also be other GPK promo cards available at Topps booth. Topps doesn’t spell out what will be available each day, but artist Joe Simko will be at the Topps booth (#2557) Friday and Saturday at 12:00 PM, while artist David Gross will be there Saturday at 2:00 PM. Both will be signing cards at the show. Topps also said there will be giveaways of Tom Bunk autos, tshirts, and movie posters. Speaking of movies, the debut screening of part three of the Fury Load trilogy will take place at Topps booth on Saturday at 12:00. Expect the animated short to debut online shortly after. A virtual panel featuring many of the GPK licensees is schedule to take place virtually on Thursday 10/7 at 10:00 AM. Schedule to take part are Mishka designer Mabel Garcia, author RL Stine, artist Joe Simko, and Fury Load producer Adam F Goldberg. Finally, Adam Bomb himself will be making an appearance after a two year absence. Collectors will get that chance to take their picture with the GPK icon. Atomic Toybox Set to Launch Two New Garbage Pail Kids Pins

Atomic Toybox has updated their website with two new listings for Garbage Pail Kids Pins. Earlier this year as part of the virtual San Diego Comic Con they offered Outerspace Chase and Alien Ian pins. They are set to offer those pins again, this time in a Glow in the Dark version. The sale is part of a promotion for both Garbage Pail Kids and the Mars Attacks Kickstarter campaign. Sidekick Labs is currently in the process of producing a Mars Artacks set that offers a special GPK x MA mashup pack with brand new art. According to the listings the first 500 pin sales will receive a special black and white promo card from the mashup. No price is listed yet, but the pins will go on sale Oct 1. The listings say they will ship on 10/27.

Andymation Garbage Pail Kids Flipbook Video Part 2

Andy Bailey, the popular YouTube flipbook artist, has posted part 2 of his Garbage Pail Kids Flipbook video. In part 2 Andy creates two different Flipbooks based on Meltin Milton and Bony Tony. Joe Simko makes an appearance in the video, as he is the one who colors the flipbooks. Andy also tries out the FYE GPK hot sauces. Part 1 of the video has turned out to be very popular with over 2.8 million views already.

As part of the collaboration with Topps on these videos, they turned Andy into a GPK. Artist Joe Simko painted the Andy Mation card. Topps printed 1500 copies of the card. Andy has signed the backs, and will be selling the cards via his website for $5 each.

Topps Partners with Blockchain Heroes for Exclusive Digital Atomic Adam Card

Did you try out any of the digital WAX x Topps Garbage Pail Cards? If so you may have a couple of gifts waiting for you in your account. Topps partnered with Blockchain Heroes to pass out exclusive versions of a new card, Atomic Adam. The card was created to help promote a new upcoming digital NFT launch called Blockchain Heroes. All WAX wallets that contain a GPK or BCH card were gifted two cards Wednesday night. Everyone received the “common” version of the card. Everyone also received one parallel version. The different versions available, and chances accounts had to receive them are; Uncommon (59.35%), Rare (25%), Epic (12%), Legendary (3%), Mythic (.5%), and Golden Fury (.15%).  Blockchain Heroes is a set based on popular blockchain figures, turned into superheroes. This version of Adam Bomb was drawn to match the superhero theme of the set. The back of the card features Atomic Adam’s back story. This marks the first time new Garbage Pail Kids artwork has debuted on the WAX Blockchain. Collectors wishing to check out what card they received must log into their Wax Cloud Wallet at the Atomic Assets website. BCH is based on the new Atomic Assets standard, therefore the Atomic Adam is only visible on sites that support Atomic Assets. Collectors can view their Atomic Adam and buy/sell versions of the card there. Be sure to check your account, you may have a valuable card waiting for you!

Adam Bomb Takes on New York Toy Fair

Late last year Topps promised we would see Adam Bomb attend conventions and toy fairs this year to help promote the 35th anniversary of the Garbage Pail Kids. Today, Adam Bomb made his public debut. Adam Bomb along with GPK artist Joe Simko attended this weekend’s New York Toy Fair and hit the show floor! The New York Toy Fair is a trade show, where toy industry people gather to show off their products for the upcoming year. It would appear Adam Bomb and Simko where there representing Topps and some of the various licensees. Adam Bomb made an appearance at both the Super7 and Greenlight booths at the show. He even stopped for a meet and greet and passed out autographs on an exclusive card. The card features Adam Bomb on the front with a sticker “autograph”. The back of the card features the 35th anniversary logo, and states the card is an appearance exclusive. No word yet if these will continue to be passed out throughout the year as Adam Bomb continues his tour.

Late to School Promo Card Surfaces from Walmart.com Value Boxes

Well this is interesting. Collectors are now able to purchase Value Boxes on Walmart.com. Each Value box is advertised to come with an exclusive Walmart promo card, Cubby Colby #WM1. GPKWorld was first to report the news. The card’s artwork was done by Joe Simko. The back of the card just shows the set name, Late to School. It’s interesting that this card is only available from online sales. Collectors finding Value boxes in Walmart stores have not reporting finding the promo card. It remains to be seen if any other exclusive promo cards will surface.
