Fresh off the launch of today’s newest GPK animated short video, Topps brings us the second video series online set. Today, Topps launched Garbage Pail Kids Valenslime’s Day Video Series Set 2. This 5 card set features still shots from their new video ccljbrating Valentine’s Day. Numbering for the set picks up where set 1 left off, as the cards are numbered 6-10. The onslaught on GPK sets continue today on Topps website. Today Topps launched Garbage Pail Kids Disg-Race to the White House Set 2: New Hampshire Primary. This weeks set comes after yesterday’s New Hampshire primary, and continues the timely political gags. The set consists of 10 cards, 5 new paintings with a/b versions. Numbering for the set continues where the Iowa set left off, starting at #7. Artwork for the set was done by David Gross (#7) and Neil Camera (#8-#11) . Each set can be purchased for $19.99, or in a lot of 10 for $179.99. Shipping is free when choosing the SmartPost option. The set will be on sale for 7 days on topps.com. Topps Reveals Print Run for 2020 GPK The Shammy Awards Set

After ending last Thursday, Topps revealed the print run for 2020 Garbage Pail Kids The Shammy Awards online set. This was the first awards set since the previous year’s Not-Scar’s set. This year’s set, based on the Grammy awards, sold 466 copies. Certainly a respectable number, and higher than the last award set from 2019. With the launch of the latest disc-Race set, will Topps continue the awards sets? They have a great opportunity with this weekend’s Academy Awards.

It’s starting to feel like 2016 all over again. During the 2016 presidential election Topps began offering online sets celebrating(?) the caucuses and primaries. It looks like Topps is bringing that back for the 2020 election cycle. Fresh off of Monday’s Iowa Caucus, today Topps launched 2020 Garbage Pail DisgRACE to the Whitehouse Set 1 Iowa Caucus online set. The 12 card set features artwork from David Gross, Brent Engstrom, Joe McWilliams, and Neil Camera. The cards feature gags for the various presidential candidates. You can expect to see these sets continue throughout 2020 as the various primaries occur. Each set can be purchased for $24.99 or in lots of 10 for $224.99. Today Topps launched Garbage Pail Kids Late to School Video Series Sticker Set #1. The 5 card set features frames from a video short Topps also released today. The animated video depicts the GPKs going back to school for their 35th anniversary. The cards feature Topps logo for this year’s 35th anniversary of the Garbage Pail Kids. It would appear Topps will start doing this for each animated video short they do this year. The set costs $9.99. Shipping is free when choosing the SmartPost option. Topps Launches Giant Sets & Posters for 2020 Garbage Pail Kids Late to School

In an interesting unexpected move Topps decided to jump their own release date and begin offering 2020 Series 1 Garbage Pail Kids Late to School online. Value Boxes, Retail Display boxes (label as “Hobby”), and Collector boxes are all for sale on topps.com. That’s not all! Topps is overlong 5×7 “giant” sized sets of Late to School. Collectors can purchase 100 card base sets /49 for $199.99. Gold 5×7 sets are numbered /10 and cost $399.99. The sets only contain the “a” cards from the series. Topps is also selling individual 10×14 posters for each “a” card from the series. Base posters are $24.99, while 1/1 Gold posters are $99.99 each. Rainbow collectors have a lot more to chase now!

Second Error Surfaces for GPK 2019 Was the Worst Card #20

Collectors who ordered card #20, Announcing Adam, got a surprise this morning as they begin receiving emails for a new order from Topps for a reprint of the card. The first version of the card was sent out with just 2019 Was The Worst on the back instead of the checklist as advertised. Topps is correcting these errors and shipping a new version of the card with the checklist on the back. Topps has confirmed with GPKNews that everyone who ordered #20 will be getting the updated card with the checklist. This isn’t the first card from the set Topps has had to fix. Card #7 was printed initially with the incorrect image and name. Topps also sent out replacements for those cards.

Topps Reveals Print Run for GPK 2019 Was the Worst #17-#20

What better to go with you Christmas evening than some print runs? Sometime over the last couple of days, Topps finally posted the final print run numbers for Garbage Pail Kids 2019 Was the Worst cards #17-#20. After a couple of days with lower numbers, the final four cards rebounded with card #20 doing really well. The results of the last four are:

  • #17 Wrinkled Rita 543
  • #18 Skip Trip 530
  • #19 Lost Lunch Landy 587
  • #20 Announcing Adam 802

#17-#19 results bounced back to those of many of the cards from the set, solidly in the mid-500’s. While card #20 doing just over 800 sold made it the second best selling card of the set. Topps’ first online daily GPK set in years proved to be very successful. Topps will surely revisit daily sets in 2020 now, the question is will they burn out collectors by going overboard?
