Topps has hit the mother lode. The first political GPK online set in years has proven to be hugely successful. Yesterday, Topps revealed the print run for 2020 Garbage Pail Kids Disg-Race to the White House Set 1 Iowa Caucus. An absolutely astonishing 1,870 sets were sold during the week the set was available for sale. This not only breaks the online record for GPK sales, but shatters it. The previous high was last year’s On Demand Holiday set, which sold 500 less copies. While the political sets from years ago did not sell well, that doesn’t appear to be the case with this year’s election. You can expect political online sets to continue at a steady pace at least through the presidential election.

Topps is out to show collectors the love. Today Topps launched 2020 On Demand Set 3 Garbage Pail Kids Mr. & Mrs. online set. After numerous awards and political sets, Topps is going back to what was successful last year. This year’s set is structured much like the last on demand set. There are 20 base cards in the set, comprised of 10 new paintings with a/b versions. Joe Simko, Brent Engstrom, David Gross, Joe McWilliams, and Neil Camera all completed two paintings for the set. Collectors purchasing a set will receive the base set, 3 green heart parallels, 2 red heart parallels, 1 black heart parallel, and 1 5×7 poster. Collectors also will have a 1:2 chance of pulling a sketch card. Topps did not release the number of sketch artists or names of artists. Here are the confirmed artists with number of sketches they completed for the set: Jasmine Contois (40), Jason Crosby (50), Rich Molinelli (50), Barry Nygma (30), Nik Castaneda (50), Sobot Cortez (50), Bobby Blakey (44), Jeff Cox (30), Joey Fitchett (40), Daniel Contois (30), Darrin Pepe (20), Brandhen Snyder (40), Robert Jimenez (20), Anthony Skubis (30), Chad Scheres (50), Shane Garvey (20), Vincenzo D’Ippolito (50), Smokin Joe McWilliams (40), and Gavin Williams (??). That brings the current total of sketches to 674. That would mean there are at least 1,350 sets. However, there very well could be additional artists, which would increase the print run.

Each Valentine’s set can be purchased for $40. Shipping is free when choosing the SmartPost option. The set will be on sale for 7 days on Topps.com, or until it sells out. Fresh off the launch of today’s newest GPK animated short video, Topps brings us the second video series online set. Today, Topps launched Garbage Pail Kids Valenslime’s Day Video Series Set 2. This 5 card set features still shots from their new video ccljbrating Valentine’s Day. Numbering for the set picks up where set 1 left off, as the cards are numbered 6-10. Each set can be purchased for $9.99. Shipping is free when choosing the SmartPost option. The set will be available for sale on Topps.com for 29 days. Fresh off last night’s Academy Awards show, today Topps launched 2020 Garbage Pail Kids Not-Scars online set. The 10card set features 5 new paintings in a/b versions. The cards celebrate this years Oscar’s award show. Artwork for the set was completed by Brent Engstrom, David Gross, and Neil Camera. Each set can be purchased for $19.99 or in a lot of 10 for $179.99. Shipping is free when choosing the SmartPost option. The set will be available on topps.com for 7 days. After ending last Thursday, Topps revealed the print run for 2020 Garbage Pail Kids The Shammy Awards online set. This was the first awards set since the previous year’s Not-Scar’s set. This year’s set, based on the Grammy awards, sold 466 copies. Certainly a respectable number, and higher than the last award set from 2019. With the launch of the latest disc-Race set, will Topps continue the awards sets? They have a great opportunity with this weekend’s Academy Awards.
