Topps Reveals Print Run for 2022 Garbage Pail Kids x Comic Con Oh the Horror-ible Set

GPK collectors always like their horror themed cards. This year’s set that was offered both online and at NYCC proved to be no exception! After ending  earlier in the week, Topps revealed the print run for 2022 Garbage Pail Kids x Comic Con Oh the Horror-ible set. The set sold a total of 2,127 copies on topps.com. Those sales do not include the sales at NYCC, which sources say were right around the 700 mark. These are excellent numbers for an online set with no packs or sketch cards. The sales beat last year’s horror con set by 400, and were slightly below the Clash of Clans set released earlier this year. Despite the large number of launches in the past couple of months, collectors continue to purchase sets are new record numbers. Collectors aren’t done with horror just yet, as a new six week expansion Oh the Horror-ible set has just begun.

Adam Bomb Misfortune-Telling-Machine at Motor City Comic Con

Collectors attending this weekend’s Motor City Comic Con were treated to a bit of a Garbage Pail Kids surprise. The Adam Bomb Misfortune Telling Machine, that made its debut at last week’s NYCC, is in attendance at the show. Thanks to Paul Scarborough for the picture. The machine is setup and working at the Geeki Tiki booth. The machine is dispensing the same cards that were at NYCC. There was no advertising of the machine’s appearance by either Topps or Bealine Creative. Motor City Comic Con isn’t known for a large GPK presence, so its appearance was a surprise. Where will Adam Bomb show up next?

The second series for one of the more controversial GPK sets of the year has ended and the sales numbers are out. Yesterday, Topps revealed the print run for Garbage Pail Kids Taste Buds Series 2. They sold a total of 2555 packs this time around. Sales were down around 800 packs compared to the first series, released earlier in the year. It’s unclear if the base set will have 40 or 41 cards. The listing and checklist say 40, but the pictures show a checklist/header card. If there is 41 cards again, the sales equates to 623 possible base sets. Topps Digital Offering Daily GPK NFT At NYCC

Topps NFT digital cards are back. Topps Digital announced today they will be giving away daily Garbage Pail Kids NFTs at this year’s New York Comic Con. Collectors attending the show who already have a ToppsNFT account, or creates one at the show, can reserve a unique GPK “CMYK” variant each day of the show at the Topps Digital booth (#2819). Collectors will need to give their account information daily to a Topps Digital staff member to reserve that day’s NFT. The NFTs will be delivered to collector’s accounts prior to the end of 2022.

The NFTs themselves are “printing plate” themed motion NFTs of artwork that has been done by Joe Simko. Simko’s autograph also appears on each motion NFT. Thursday’s card is the Cyan version, Friday is Megenta, Saturday is Yellow, and Sunday is Key (Black). These are the first GPK NFTs Topps have released since the Food Fight NFTs in early 2021. Topps NFT business has under gone immense changes since that time. Previously, Topps launched NFTs on the Wax Blockchain. Topps now launches all their NFTs on their own website toppsnfts.com, which is on the Avalanche Blockchain. Their new website has gone through some growing pains since the launch. Many features collectors were used to on the Wax blockchain are still awaiting implementation, and are listed on the company’s roadmap. Collectors can buy and sell NFTs on the website using a credit card, no interaction with crypto currencies is required. After focusing mainly on Soccer and Baseball NFTs in 2022, Topps does have plans for a GPK NFT set. The roadmap for ToppsNFTs shows a GPK set listed under Q4 Content launches.
