After ending a week ago Topps has finally revealed the print run for 2022 Garbage Pail Kids Krashers Series 3. The GPK car mashup sold a total of 2,447 sets. In a surprise, the set did not sell out within the 7 day sales window. It looks like Topps overestimated the demand for the set. The sales were still strong for a GPK On Demand set, but the saturation of GPK launches the past few months may be finally catching up to Topps. Collectors have continued to complain they are unable to afford the amount of new releases from the company. GPKNews was able to confirm 1,450 sketch cards completed from 27 of the 28 sketch artists on the series. That means there was right around 1500 sketches commissioned by Topps for the set. With odds of 1:2 per set, that means that sadly just under 300 sketches won’t end up in collectors hands. It also means there will not be as many Foil parallels dispersed. The releases aren’t scheduled to slow down anytime soon as more will be coming in October.

Topps Launches 2021 Garbage Pail Kids Sapphire
Garbage Pail Kids collecting changed forever with the release of GPK Sapphire at the end of 2020. Topps is back with the follow up set to the hugely successful initial release. Thanks to SPK for the pictures of the release. Today Topps launched 2021 Garbage Pail Kids Sapphire to Montgomery Club members. Montgomery Club is a yearly club Topps previously offered that allows for early prerelease purchase of exclusive online boxes. The 2021 label and box printing shows Topps had this set planned for a 2021 release, but was delayed like other GPK releases. The new set features all the original cards from OS 3 and OS 4. The additional four “B” name changes from OS 4 are also included, making the set a total of 170 cards. Each box contains 32 cards in eight 4-card packs. The lure of Sapphire are the various numbered parallels. While the first GPK Sapphire release advertised 2 parallels inside each box, the pictures of the new box do not show that same information. The new listing also does not promise any guaranteed parallels in each box. Topps does list the parallels available in the boxes, they added a new one numbered to /75. The parallels are; Blue /99, Fuchsia /75, Green /50, Orange /25, Gold /15, Purple /10, Red /5, and Pad 1/1. There are no odds listed to figure out possible print runs. Boxes are available for $129.99, plus shipping. The lists says boxes will ship in 15-25 days. Topps is limiting purchases to 1 box per account. While there have been no announcements from Topps, it’s expected there will be a public sale starting tomorrow, 9/21, to non Club members with similar order restrictions.
