Topps Launches Garbage Pail Kids Prime Slime Trashy TV Expansion Set Week 2

On to week two of some of the most popular new and old TV shows ever! Today Topps launched Garbage Pail Kids Prime Slime Trashy TV expansion set week 2. Once again, this week’s set features 10 cards, 5 new pieces with a/b versions. All the artwork for the cards was done by David Gross and Brent Engstrom. Each set also comes with one sepia parallel card. One lucky purchaser will also receive a piece of final artwork as part their order. This week’s painting giveaway is the Get Smart painting by Engstrom. Each set can be purchased for $19.99 or in a lot of 10 for $179.99. Shipping is free when choosing the Economy/SmartPost option. The GPK expansion sets are back for 2023. First up will be a six week series of sets expanding on the 2016S2 Trashy TV set. Today Topps launched Garbage Pail Kids Prime Slime Trashy TV expansion set week 1. The set features 10 cards, 5 new pieces with a/b versions. All gags are based off of popular current and past TV shows. All the artwork for the set was done by artists David Gross and Brent Engstrom. Each set purchased also comes with one sepia parallel card. Additionally, for the first time Topps has acquired original artwork from the artists to give away to a lucky purchaser of each week’s set. For week 1, someone’s order will include Engstrom’s Wheel of Fortune piece. Each set can be purchased for $19.99 or in a lot of 10 for $179.99. Shipping is free when choosing the Economy/SmartPost option. The set will be available for sale on Topps.com for 7 days. Topps will reveal the print run at the end of the sale. Topps Teases Garbage Pail Kids Prime Slime Trashy TV Expansion Sets

Today the official GPK Facebook account shared a teaser for the next round of online expansion sets, Garbage Pail Kids Prime Slime Trashy TV. Much like the expansions sets last year, there will be six weeks of online sets offered by Topps for this series. The gags are a follow up to the 2016S2 retail set with the same name. Collectors can expect to see cards based on both newer popular shows and some past shows that weren’t included the first time around. David Gross and Brent Engstrom will be doing all the artwork for the sets. The sets will also again come with one parallel card per set. Topps has some other surprises in store for collectors. According to the teaser picture, the first set will launch next Thursday, 4/20/23.

Topps Reveals Print Run for 2023 Garbage Pail Kids Not-Scars

GPKs remain an hot item. After ending last week, Topps has revealed the print run for 2023 Garbage Pail Kids Not-Scars. The set sold a total of 2,066 copies. Over two thousand sales for a regular online set with no sketches is a fantastic number. The sales are right in line with the top online sets from last year. This set sold over 4x the number compared to the last Not-Scars set sold in 2020. Awards sets have historically not been the most popular, but this set seemed to break that trend. Topps has  stopped revealing sales figures for packed out and on demand online offers, so this is the first sales result we are getting this year. So far it looks like GPK remains very popular with collectors.

It’s been a few years, but the kids are back with gags focused on this year’s Academy Award Nominees. Today Topps launched 2023 Garbage Pail Kids Not-Scars online set. Formerly a yearly tradition, this is the first Not-Scars since 2020. There are a total of 10 cards in the set, 5 new pieces with a/b versions. Artists Brent Engstrom, Joe Simko, Joe McWilliams, and Neil Camera did the artwork for the set. Each set purchased also comes with one parallel card. Sets are available for $19.99 each or in a lot of 10 for $179.99. Shipping is free when choosing the Economy/SmartPost option. The set will be available on Topps.com for 7 days. Topps Launches 2023 Garbage Pail Kids Valentine’s Day is Canceled

Love is in the air again! The annual GPK set with a Valentine theme is back. Today Topps launched 2023 Garbage Pail Kids Valentine’s Day is Canceled. This year’s set contains 20 base cards, 10 new pieces in a/b versions. Artists Joe Simko, David Gross, Brent Engstrom, Joe McWilliams, and Neil Camera each did two pieces for the set. Each set purchased comes with 28 cards; 20 base cards, 3 red heart parallels, 1 black heart parallel, 2 dating profile inserts, 1 C name, and either a sketch or foil card. Foil cards are available in unnumbered foil board, gold /50, and rainbow /25. There is also a Deaf Geoff card by Ermsy inserted 1:5 sets. Additionally a short printed box featuring Lovely Lea is 1:10 sets. There are no odds listed on the sketch cards. There are a wide selection of sketch artists on the set, from one making his debut (Laurich), to an artist doing sketches for the first time in years (Gross). In today’s sales email to collectors, Topps teased the launch of Garbage Pail Kids Valentine’s Day is Canceled online set. The set is scheduled to launch on Topps.com Thursday, 2/9/23. According to the teaser picture, each set will include 28 cards along with either a sketch of foil card. Collector’s can feel the love later this week.

Topps Launches Garbage Pail Kids x MLB Series 2

Topps is back with a mashup only they can do. Today the company launched Garbage Pail Kids x MLB Series 2. All artwork in this set was done by popular Topps artist, Alex Pardee. Since first teasing the product a week ago, Topps has gone all out with the marketing for this set. Pardee and Topps have done a complete social media marketing campaign unlike anything seen to date for a GPK product. This is the second GPK x MLB series from Topps. The first series, with artwork from Keith Shore, launched last October and has yet to ship to collectors. The complete base set contains 30 cards, 15 subject with a/b versions. Once again, the set is being offered in packs and boxes. Each pack contains 5 base cards and 1 chase card. The chase cards are numbered parallels (silver, rainbow /250, baseball stitching /199, pink /99, green /75, orange /50, blue /25, purple /10, red /5, and gold 1/1), C name insert 1:16, No Name insert 1:10, Wrapper Art 1:40, Baseball Guy pencil 1:100, Alex Pardee portrait (1:5), or Alex Pardee auto (1:120). The packs are going to cost collectors more this time around. Each individual pack can be purchased for $24.99, or an 8 pack box for $194.99. Shipping is free when choosing the Economy/ SmartPost option. Like with the first series, there is no timer on the sale. Boxes sold out fast last time, with packs available a few days longer. New Garbage Pail Kids Sapphire Set Coming This Month

In what’s sure to be a shock to collectors, there is a new GPK Sapphire release coming in less than 3 weeks. In today’s release date email to distributors, Topps added a listing for 2022 Garbage Pail Kids Sapphire. Much like Chrome, this will be the second Sapphire release in 4 months. Previously GPK Sapphire sets released  towards the end of the year. With the set having the 2022 label, it appears this release was originally planned for last year. Last year’s Sapphire release had the 2021 label as it was scheduled for 2021. Topps Montgomery Club members should get first crack at purchasing, with a public sale shortly after. There is no information yet on what the set will consist of. Does Topps do OS 5 & OS 6? Just OS5? Something else? Let the speculation begin! 2022 Garbage Pail Kids Sapphire is scheduled for a 1/27/23 release date on Topps.com.

Topps Teases GPK x MLB Series 2 Online Set

Topps today via their social media channels began teasing GPK x MLB Series 2 online set. This time the artwork will be done by Alex Pardee. The first series artwork was done by Keith Shore. Pardee has shown an affection for GPK before, even doing a card in the Beyond the Streets set. Topps has yet to ship the series 1 set that was sold back in October. The ad from Topps shows a box that says a pack of cards contains 5 base cards plus 1 chase card. Topps says the set will drop next Wednesday on Topps.com.
