Santa Cruz Details GPK Themed Skateboard Deck Launch

Last May skateboard resellers begin taking pre-orders for Garbage Pail Kids themed decks made by Santa Cruz Skateboards. Santa Cruz’s license with Topps doesn’t stop at boards, they are also offering GPK themed t-shirts. This week on their website, Santa Cruz released some details on these blind bag decks.  In the video posted below, Santa Cruz Brand Manager, Andrew Cannon, opened up five of these blind bags and revealed what could be found inside. As released earlier collectors will be able to find 9 different types of skateboard decks all varying in rarity. The seven most common decks feature Adam Bomb, or variations like Hazardous Hand and Radioactive Rob.

As detailed in the video, the final two types of decks are both 1of1 varieties. There are 24 Artist Boards randomly inserted in the run. These 1of1 boards were hand painted by the following Santa Cruz artists; Jimbo Phillips, Tallboy, Pitchgrim, Horsebites, Suzanne Fiore, Keith Haupt, Aye Jay, Esayde, Pseudo5, Bart Saric, Tyler Emanuel, Lucas Musgrave, Ted Cocuzza, Ben Raney and Funeral French.

There are also 40 Background Boards. These are also 1of1’s that feature the classic Adam Bomb character but the backgrounds are all different.

In addition to the decks, collectors will also get an exclusive GPK card of Hazardous Hand, as well as a Heaving Hand sticker. The artwork for both the card and sticker was done by Santa Cruz artist “Pitchgrim” Cody Melick.

Santa Cruz has not revealed what the print run or odds of the various decks are. The GPK themed decks and t-shirts are set to be released from retailers on 10/9/17.

Riot Fest Offers Exclusive GPK Set & T-Shirt

Riot Fest Chicago, the popular music festival started today and is set to run through this Sunday. As they announced earlier this week, Riot Fest Garbage Pail Kids licensed sets went on sale this morning when the show opened. The 10 card set features brand new artwork from Engstrom, Simko, and Gross. This set is a little different than most, as Riot Fest does this set under a license deal with Topps. Riot Fest and the bands must approve the artwork in advance and are in charge of distribution.

The set is a little larger than last year’s set, and with that comes a price increase. The sets are being sold for $29.99 each at the merchandise booth at the show. This is the only place you are able to buy the set directly. If you aren’t able to attend the show there is always eBay. There are already plenty of sets listed on eBay, and just like last year it will cost you quite a bit more. Merchants told customers there were 300 sets available on Friday for sale. Those easily sold in the first few hours of the show. Information on if more will be available Sat/Sun or the complete print run is not clear.

That’s not all Riot Fest has to offer. The artwork for card #1 in the set, Riot Beast, is also being offered as a t-shirt at the show. Thanks to GPK collector Edward TropicBlue for the info and picture of the shirt. This licensed shirt is available to concertgoers for $30 at the show.

The show didn’t reveal much about the set, other than people interested in purchasing it should show up early as quantities will once again be very limited and are expected to sell out fast. No pricing or print run information has been revealed. Here is the checklist along with pictures of the cards.

Creepy Co. Garbage Pail Kids Wave 1 Products Revealed

As we shared with you last week, Creepy Co. is set to offer a slew of new officially licensed Garbage Pail Kids merchandise. The company already offered a teaser recently by showing an Adam Bomb enamel pin that will be available. Here is everything else you can expect to be able to purchase later this week.

By offering pins for their own brand, as well as other brands, Creepy Co. has lots of experience in the enamel pin business. The first wave of GPK merchandise will include 5 pins featuring four OS 1 characters, and one OS 3 character. The pin checklist consists of; Nasty Nick, Dead Ted, Adam Bomb, Bony Joanie, and Grim Jim. All pins come attached on a card backing with the straight Garbage Pail Kids banner, Peel Here arrow, and Name Plate. Each enamel pin will be available for $11.99.

Next up will be the GPK Series 1 Button Pack by Creepy Co. The pack will feature six buttons attached to a card back with the Straight Garbage Pail Kids Banner and both the Topps and Creepy Co. logos. The buttons themselves only have character artwork along with the curved “GPK” banner that Topps has been using for licensed merchandise recently. The checklist features characters from OS 1, OS 3, and OS 4; Nasty Nick, Weird Wendy, Juicy Jessica, Frank N. Stein, Eerie Eric, and Bony Tony. The GPK Series 1 Button Pack will be available for $9.99.

Lastly, Creepy Co. will be offering a throw back to Imperial Toy’s 1986 release of Stick-Ons stickers. Garbage Pail Kids Puffy Stick-Ons will feature a pack of 12 retro stickers. A mix of OS 1, OS 3, OS 4, and OS 5 characters make up the checklist. In the pack will be; Bony Joanie, Nasty Nick, Dead Ted, Haunted Hollis, Max Axe, Grim Jim, Wrappin Ruth, Bony Tony, Jack O. Lantern, Ned Head, Eerie Eric, and Adam Bomb. Once again, the packaging features the Straight Garbage Pail Kids Banner and both the Topps and Creepy Co. logos. The stickers all feature the character Name Plate. The sticker pack will cost $6.99.

After seeing all this great merchandise, the question is what’s next? The company confirmed with GPKNews their license with Topps is long term. New GPK products are scheduled to come out quarterly. The company is also working on officially licensed retail products for later in 2018. Creepy Co. also confirmed to GPKNews that the first wave of GPK merchandise will be available on the Creepy Co. website store this Thursday, 9/7, at 7:00 PM Central time. The products will be in their warehouse and ready to ship that day, so get your credit cards ready!

Creepy Co. to Offer GPK Pins, Buttons, Puffy Stickers

Creepy Co. teased GPK collectors just a couple of weeks ago that they obtained a GPK license and would soon be producing officially licensed products. In a blog post earlier this week, Creepy has begun to let collectors know exactly what they will be able to get their hands on. Three products are planned as part of their “first wave” GPK Launch. First off, Creepy will be launching 5 enamel lapel pins all on GPK card backers. Included in their blog post is the picture below of their Adam Bomb pin. Next is a 6 button set on a “Throwback Sun-Faded First Series pink” card backer. Finally, they will be reproducing a 12 puffy sticker set featuring classic characters. Of note the mention of “first wave” for GPK items, and the “first of many” mentions on the buttons leads me to believe there will be more releases to come down the line. No pricing information or availability date is available yet. The blog post mentions Creepy Co. will be revealing all the details next Thursday on their website.
