Topps Reveals Print Run for GPK Disg-Race Cards #67-#69

artgpk-stic-16gpkrace-0067Collectors thought the GPK Disg-Race set might be finished after the election. Topps proved them otherwise as they released three new cards on Friday. Two of the cards featured alternate artwork showing different election results completed by artists Joe Simko and Brent Engstrom. Despite this being the 8th release in the last twelve days, sales remain brisk. The cards all did over 400 sales, with the highest going to the Obama/Trump meeting. The big mystery now is how much longer will Topps continue to release cards based on an election that has already ended? Here is the print run information for the latest three card release.

#67 – Begrudging Barack Nov 2016 – 554
#68 – Hamstrung Hillary Nov 2016 – 401
#69 – Tan Trump Nov 2016 – 401

artgpk-stic-16gpkrace-0064If this is the end, Disg-Race went out with a bang! Today Topps revealed print run information for Garbage Pail Kids Disg-Race to the White House cards #64-#66. Collectors once again voted with their wallets on the winning/losing presidential election cards. As has been the case throughout the online exclusives, the Donald Trump cards lead the way with a whopping 729 and 566. Those two cards become the 2nd and 3rd highest selling cards of the series, right after the first card in the set. The card featuring Hillary Clinton moving to Canada came in with 496. There have been conflicting reports on wether the set is finished. While artist Joe Simko mentioned this was the last batch of Disg-Race cards, Topps has only hinted that the end was near for the set. Meanwhile artist Brent Engstrom was busy painted cards live on Facebook last night. At the very least I expect Topps to do something around inauguration day in January, which also just happens to be the release of the next retail set 2017 GPK Adam-Geddon. Here is the final print run information:

#64 – Towering Trump – 729

artgpk-stic-16gpkrace-b-0064-0065-0066Maybe GPK collectors had it right all along? Consistently throughout the release of exclusive online presidential election sets, the cards based on Donald Trump have outsold those based on Hillary Clinton. Now we have the sticker featuring a victorious President-Elect Donald Trump. Today Topps launched Garbage Pail Kids Disg-Race to the White House cards #64-66. GPK artists Brent Engstrom and Joe Simko pre-painted winning and losing cards for each candidate prior to election day. Today we see the winning Trump, and the losing Clinton versions. In addition we also get a Trump card featuring his supporters during the election. Joe Simko made reference yesterday on his Facebook page that today’s cards would mark the end of the Disg-Race series from Topps. While no official word has come from Topps yet, a break from these cards would be welcomed. Today marks the 7th release in the last ten days. I fully expect Topps to at the very least do something around inauguration day in January.

Each of today’s cards can be purchased for $9.99 or in lots of 5 for $29.99, 10 for $49.99, or 20 for $79.99. A three card bundle featuring every card can be purchased for $24.99. Free shipping is being offered via the SmartPost option. The cards will be for sale via topps.com for 24 hours. Topps will reveal the print run of the cards at the end of the sale.
