Topps Reveals Print Run for Topps x Ermsy Entertainment Blend

After ending earlier today, Topps revealed the print run for Topps x Ermsy Entertainment Blend. The online series featuring Ermsy’s take on GPKs, Wacky Packages, Mars Attacks, and Ugly Stickers sold a total of 9,986 packs. Ermsy’s popularity along with the lure of Garbage Pail Kids art proved to be a success for Topps. While not labeled a GPK set, those sales would make it the second highest selling online GPK set, just behind the Gamestonk set from a few years ago. The set was sold in 6 card packs, 5 base cards and 1 “hit”. Based on the total number of packs sold the base card print run can be broken down as follows:

  • Base Sets: 9986 Packs x 5 cards per pack = 49,930 total base cards / 20 cards in set = 2,496 number of base sets

Topps has confirmed with GPKNews that the B Names and Chopped Chase cards are not being printed in the same quantities, so there isn’t a way to determine the print run on those. With only 720 foils and 100 autos, there will be a lot of either the Chopped chase or B names. After this set proved to be successful, it will be interesting to see if Topps does another series with Ermsy, or another outside GPK artist.

Topps today teased an upcoming Topps x Ermsy Entertainment Blend online set. According to Topps’ Facebook page, there will be a new set featuring contemporary artist Ermsy who will have his fresh new takes on Garbage Pail Kids, Mars Attacks, Wacky Packages, and Ugly Stickers. No details of the set were revealed other than a teaser video that had images of Adam Bomb and Bony Jonie. Ermsy did a number of GPK baseball related mashups for Topps’ Project 70 set last year. Garbage Pail Kids Taste Buds Series 1 Begins Surfacing at Breweries

Garbage Pail Kids Taste Buds Series 1 begin showing up this week at the 20 breweries who were part of the set. Thanks to collector Billy Adam for info and pictures of the cards. Billy visited the Half Acre brewery where they just received the cards from Topps. Instead of complete sets, the breweries have 10 card + 1 Gold parallel packs. Each brewery pack comes in a themed Taste Buds box with an inner silver sales pack. The box also has the list of breweries on the back. These are the same packs that were sold online to collectors. While the online packs cost collectors $20, this brewery was selling them for $10 each.

This brewery received 500 packs to sell locally. This is the number GPKNews had also heard a few weeks ago. If each brewery received 500 packs that would put the brewery packs at 10,000. After including online sales, it puts the total pack run at 13,382. That comes out to 3,263 complete sets that can be made from these packs. It would put the each gold parallel at 326 copies. Quite a high print run for a niche GPK set. GPKNews can also confirm that artists will be starting work shortly on Taste Buds Series 2, set for release later this summer.

Topps Reveals Print Run for 2022 Garbage Pail Kids Taste Buds Series 1

Many collectors thought Taste Buds was only a set the brewers would love. That wasn’t necessarily the case, as the set that focused on the hobbies of craft brewery owners sold well. Today, Topps revealed the print run for 2022 Garbage Pail Kids Taste Buds Series 1. The set, which was on sale for 30 days, sold a total of 3,342 packs. Since each pack contains 10 base cards in the 41 card set, the sales would equate to 815 complete sets. Each gold parallel, which comes 1 per pack, would be limited to 81 copies. These numbers do not include the number of complete sets that the breweries themselves will be selling. There has been no updates on the number of sets, structure, or pricing for the sets that the breweries will sell. Series 2 of the set is expected later this summer. Expect to see the personal hobbies of 20 more craft brewers from around the world.
