Garbage Pail Kids Returning to Bowman Chrome Baseball

Update #2 10/26/25 – Topps released 2025 Bowman Chrome Baseball Mega boxes on 10/8/25. This retail component of BC was released about two weeks after the Hobby boxes. Mega boxes come with 5 regular BC packs, and two Mega Chrome packs that contain exclusive Mojo refractors. Despite being released three weeks ago, Topps has just now posted the odds for Mega boxes. There are some changes from the 2024 set. There doesn’t appear to be any Mojo versions of the GPK MLB cards, like there was in the 2024 Bowman Chrome set. Instead, Topps carried over the same variations found in Hobby boxes Base, Red Refractor (/5), and Superfractors (1/1). Here are the odds for those cards in Mega boxes:

Mega

  • Base 1:2,737
  • Red Refracfor 1:6,842
  • Superfractor 1:136,840

Yes, those odds are very long to find a GPK MLB cards. You will get one GPK card roughly every 400 Mega boxes. We can use the odds to see how many GPK base cards are inserted into Mega boxes.

  • Mega – 356,400 packs / 2,737 odds = 130 total GPKs / 50 in set = 2.5 of each base GPK

So, very few GPK MLB cards to be found in Mega boxes this time around. Basically 2-3 of each of the 50 cards. When you add these numbers to the numbers we got from Hobby and Breaker’s Delight boxes we get a total of 103.5 of each GPK MLB base card produced. Due to rounding of odds, and other factors, it would not surprise me if there were 100 of each produced. So there you have it, another year of GPK cards in Bowman Chrome Baseball. You’ll need to be a big baller to put this set together.

Update 9/23/25 – With today’s release of Bowman Chrome Baseball, Topps has finally posted the odds for the set. Only Hobby and Breaker’s Delight boxes were released today. Mega boxes release on 10/10/25. Here are the odds for the GPK MLB cards found in Bowman Chrome boxes:

Hobby

  • Base 1:204
  • Red Refractor 1:7,133
  • Suoerfractpr 1:24,468

Breaker’s Delight

  • Base 1:181
  • Red Refractor 1:5,146
  • Superfractor 1:10,004

Based on the odds, it will take nearly three $3000 cases, or 30 $2200 Breaker’s Delight cases to pull just 1 GPK MLB card. The GPK MLB cards are even rarer than last year’s version.

Since we have the odds, we can figure out the production of the base GPK cards inserted into the boxes:

  • Hobby – 925,000 packs / 204 odds = 4,534 total GPKs / 50 in set = 90 of each base GPK
  • Breaker’s Delight – 100,000 packs / 181 odds = 552 total GPKs / 50 in set = 11 of each base GPK

That comes out to a total of 101 of each base GPK MLB card inserted into the packs and boxes released today. Keep in mind that there will be additional base GPK in the Mega boxes that release in a couple of weeks.

One item that does not appear on the odds sheet are the GPK MLB player autographs. There are Black Border versions /10, and according to a Topps Ripped article also 1/1 Superfracfor versions. However, Topps did update their official checklist to include the player autos. A total of 39 players did autos for the set, including big names like Aaron Judge, Ken Griffey Jr., and Derek Jeter. Update: Topps continues their slow roll of releasing information on future releases. We do have some new information for the new MLB cards to be inserted into Bowman Chrome baseball. Topps announced that in addition to regular versions of the cards, for the first time, “most” of the players have signed cards for the set. In addition “most” of the players that signed autos, also signed their GPK name to the card. Auto versions will be limited to /10, and can only be found in Hobby boxes. Topps hasn’t announced which players have signed, as the auto GPK insert set was not included on the released checklist. Topps however, did share some images of the auto cards.

In additional updates, Topps pushed back the original release date of Bowman Chrome Hobby boxes for 9/23/25. Topps also launched a preorder for Bowman Chrome Mega boxes. Each Mega box comes with two exclusive Mega packs. The Mega packs contain Mojo refractors, that are different from regular refractors. Because Topps has not yet released any odds for Bowman Chrome, it’s unclear what MLB GPK cards will be in Mega boxes. However, last year’s Bowman Chrome release contained Mojo refractors. Mega boxes are scheduled to be released on 10/10/25.

Baseball card collectors don’t fret, the Garbage Pail Kids are back to save Bowman Chrome Baseball! The GPKs included in last year’s Bowman Chrome ended up being some of the most sought after and chased cards from the product. That popularity has lead to their return in Topps upcoming 2025 Bowman Chrome Baseball. Topps launched a preorder for the product this past Monday, 8/11. At the time the company didn’t reveal any details around what was in the set. That didn’t stop collectors from quickly selling out the preorder at $279.99 per box. Late Tuesday, Topps finally released the first details as the checklist was posted to their website. The Bowman GPK insert set contains a massive 50 new gags based on a variety of players from HOFers, superstars, rookies, and prospects. Highlights include current players like Aaron Judge and Shohei Ohtani, rookies Nick Kurtz and Roki Sasaki and Hall of Famers Ichiro and Derek Jeter. All artwork for the set was once again done by longtime GPK artist David Gross. So far, Topps has only announced two SKUs, Hobby and Breakers Delight. According to the sell sheets for the product, the Bowman GPK inserts will once again be limited. They will also come in Red Refractors /5 and Superfractors 1/1. Generally, Mega boxes with different variations of the cards will be announced later. No other information about the GPK cards have been revealed yet including odds or sample pictures. The complete list of Bowman GPKs is below. 2025 Bowman Chrome Baseball is set to release 9/10/25.

More GPK Crossover in 2025 Dynamic Duals Baseball Set

Did you miss it? This one completely flew under the radar. Topps continues to use Garbage Pail Kids wherever they can in their sports releases. This year’s online only release of 2025 Topps MLB Dynamic Duals features a super short printed Garbage Pail Kids card. The Dead Ted/Cranky Frankie card numbered SP-2 is a part of the non-MLB insert set. The card is also available in an Orange /5 and Gold 1/1 parallel. Last year’s Dynamic Duals set featured a GPK card, Adam Bomb/Nasty Nick. This reason why you might have missed this one? It came out May 22, 2025!! Yes, nearly three months ago. Chalk this one up to Topps less than excellent marketing. The cards does not show up on the posted checklist by Topps, no odds were posted for the product either. No print run information is available for the product, but so far very few copies have shown up on eBay. This one looks to be very rare. It looks like GPK collectors will need to keep their eyes open on every sports set going forward!

Topps Launches Garbage Pail Kids x MLB Series 2

Topps is back with a mashup only they can do. Today the company launched Garbage Pail Kids x MLB Series 2. All artwork in this set was done by popular Topps artist, Alex Pardee. Since first teasing the product a week ago, Topps has gone all out with the marketing for this set. Pardee and Topps have done a complete social media marketing campaign unlike anything seen to date for a GPK product. This is the second GPK x MLB series from Topps. The first series, with artwork from Keith Shore, launched last October and has yet to ship to collectors. The complete base set contains 30 cards, 15 subject with a/b versions. Once again, the set is being offered in packs and boxes. Each pack contains 5 base cards and 1 chase card. The chase cards are numbered parallels (silver, rainbow /250, baseball stitching /199, pink /99, green /75, orange /50, blue /25, purple /10, red /5, and gold 1/1), C name insert 1:16, No Name insert 1:10, Wrapper Art 1:40, Baseball Guy pencil 1:100, Alex Pardee portrait (1:5), or Alex Pardee auto (1:120). The packs are going to cost collectors more this time around. Each individual pack can be purchased for $24.99, or an 8 pack box for $194.99. Shipping is free when choosing the Economy/ SmartPost option. Like with the first series, there is no timer on the sale. Boxes sold out fast last time, with packs available a few days longer. Here is the checklist along with pictures of some cards.

Topps Teases GPK x MLB Series 2 Online Set

Topps today via their social media channels began teasing GPK x MLB Series 2 online set. This time the artwork will be done by Alex Pardee. The first series artwork was done by Keith Shore. Pardee has shown an affection for GPK before, even doing a card in the Beyond the Streets set. Topps has yet to ship the series 1 set that was sold back in October. The ad from Topps shows a box that says a pack of cards contains 5 base cards plus 1 chase card. Topps says the set will drop next Wednesday on Topps.com.

Topps Selling Player Autos for MLB x Garbage Pail Kids Series 1 Set

Topps is making all they can out of their new MLB/GPK mashup. The company began today selling player autos individually on their website for the first two players in the set. On-card autos from Bobby Witt Jr. and Juilo Rodriguez are available for 7 days or until sold out. Each card is available in various parallel colors; Green /99, Blue /49, Purple /25, Red /10, Orange /5, and Gold 1/1. Topps is using dynamic pricing on these, meaning the cards are being priced based on player collectibility and perceived demand from Topps. Rodriguez cards are priced higher across the board compared to Witt for example. The cards are not cheap, prices range from the low of $199.99 for the Witt Green to a high of $1,499.99 for the Rodriguez Gold. Both Gold 1/1 cards sold out quickly, with the Orange Rodriguez soon after. All others remain available as of this writing. The initial pack sale for this set sold out after a few days, although print run information has not been released by Topps. Topps also sold artist proof versions of each card /49 over a number of days. Collectors should expect other autos to go up for sale in the coming days.
