Greenlight Updates on SDCC & GPK Series 7 Cars

Coming out of this year’s San Diego Comic Con there are a number of updates from Greenlight Collectibles. At SDCC beyond their previously announced GPK con exclusive car, the company surprised collectors with some unannounced items.

As announced, Greenlight had the green 1969 Ford Bronco with a new card, Super Snotty, available for $20. The company also had a silver chase version of the Bronco available at their booth. The chase versions sold out quickly, with resellers fetching a premium on eBay. The company has confirmed with GPKNews the print run of the two cars, regular green car (1.944), and silver chase car (80). The company has put left over regular cars from SDCC on sale on their eBay store for collections that weren’t able to attend the show.

Additionally, the company also handed out some free unannounced GPK Greenlight promo cards at their booth. The company had passed out copies of the Series 1-5 GPK employee cards. Traffic Lady Katie, Clutch Clint, Unaware Aaron, Aggravated Angela, and Tangled Tim were available free to collectors. Greenlight confirmed with GPKNews each card was limited to /200 copies. See below for pictures of the five promo cards.

Finally, a small update on the upcoming Series 7 GPK diecast cars. The company has finalized the cars names of the accompanying cards, see below. Production images aren’t available as of yet. Also, collectors may have noticed Greenlight made a change with their chase vehicles starting with the Series 6 GPK cars. Previously the “Green Machine” chase cars had green rims or green under carriages. Now the chase cars feature all silver bodies. The company said this will continue with Series 7 cars. Here is the list of Series 7 cars and cards.

Update 8/1/24: Topps has finally released the list of participating hobby stores that will take part of Trading Card Day. The list is posted at their Ripped Blog page, or you can click here for the PDF file.

While Topps hasn’t shared the checklist yet. They did share with GPKNews, 15 images of GPK cards in the set. All 15 feature artwork from Kids At Play. See pictures below. I’ll update this article with the checklist once it’s released.

This year’s 2024 Topps Trading Card Day is scheduled for this Saturday, 8/3/2024. It appears Garbage Pail Kids will once again be part of the promotion. Information has been scarce from Topps on this year’s promotion. While the company has a page on their website, it hasn’t been updated with participating stores, checklist, or any other information like in year’s past.

It does appear Topps is making a few changes to the program this year. Gone is the “International” title that had been part of the day in years past. Customers going into their local hobby stores can once again receive a free pack of cards. This year there are only three options, MLB, Bowman U Football, and Garbage Pail Kids. Dave & Adam’s card store appears to have received some information on this year’s promotion. They had three different sample images of GPK cards. It appears Topps is using art from 2024 GPK Kids At Play set. Examples include Pac Manuel, Buster Balloon, and Hungry Henry. There isn’t any additional information on the set including checklist, SP inserts or autos.

GPKNews has reached out to Topps for more info. If we hear back this article will be updated. Until more info is shared by Topps, start planning your Saturday route now! Call your local stores and see if they are participating!
