Topps Launches Final Project 70 x GPK Mashup

Today marks the final day of the year long Project 70 baseball card online set. With that also comes the final GPK mashup in the set. Topps today launched Project 70 Card 936 Ken Griffey Jr. by Keith Shore. The card features a GPK version of Hall of Famer Griffey swimming in a sea of Shore’s Project 2020 Griffey card. The normal Garbage Pail Kids banner is replaced with a Seattle Mariners banner, and the nameplate reads Collector Ken. Collectors buying the card have the random chance of receiving a 99k Ken “b” name, Rainbow Foil parallel /70, and a Gold parallel 1/1. This is the fourth of five planned GPK mashups in the set from Keith Shore. The card features the Cardinals legend as GPK Handy Randy, now named Hand Musial. Topps is going all out featuring Garbage Pail Kids in their Project 70 online product. After yesterday’s New Wave Dave x Acuna Jr. mashup by Ermsy, today brings a Sloshed Josh x Derek Jeter card. Today Topps launched Project 70 Card 737 1986 Derek Jeter by Keith Shore . This is the 5th card to feature GPKs, by three different artists. Artist Keith Shore shared the card last night on his Instagram account. He announced the last 5 cards he would be doing for Project 70 would all be based on his favorite GPKs. Instead of a typical baseball card layout, today’s card is based on the Sloshed Josh GPK, with a few changes. Jeter is drawn as a GPK inside the GPKola bottle. The classic Garbage Pail Kids banner is replaced with a New York Yankees banner. The classic GPK name plate appears with the name Derek Liter. Ermsy is at it again, incorporating another Garbage Paul Kids iconic character in a baseball card. Today Topps launched Project 70 Card #539 1985 Vladimir Guerrero Jr. by Ermsy. This is the second card in the online only set to include a GPK character. Back in July Ermsy also painted a Adam Bomb x Mike Trout card. The card features Vlad Guerrero Jr. seemingly busting out as Bad Vlad, spilting Nasty Nick in two. The card is based off the popular 1985 Topps baseball card layout. There are different versions to collect. In addition to the regular base version, Rainbow Foil /70 and Gold 1/1 will be randomly inserted into the print run. Last week, as part of their year long Project 70 set, Topps released a card that featured an iconic baseball player and an iconic Garbage Pail Kids character. Today they revealed the print run for Project 70 card 357 Mike Trout by Ermsy. The card sold a total of 10,687 copies. This marks the 6th highest selling Project 70 card to date. The combination of Mike Trout and Adam Bomb brought out collectors from both sides to push sales towards the top. There’s still a long way to go in the baseball season, could GPK’s make another appearance in the set?

Adam Bomb gets to play with a major baseball star in Topps latest mashup of properties. Today Topps Launched Project 70 Card #357 Mike Trout by Ermsy. Project 70 is an online only project where numerous artists are creating original pieces depicting baseball players in various forms. The artist Ermsy created today’s Mike Trout card which includes Garbage Pail Kids character Adam Bomb on the card. There are various versions of the card for sale.
