Garbage Pail Kids Chrome Guide

Congratulations your cards are part of the GPK Chrome Sets. Topps released 2 Chrome sets between 2013-2014. Generally our collections we had when we were kids were not stored well, ex. Rubber Bands = Bad. Also keep in mind collectors aren’t going to pay anything extra for sentimental value. Continue on to get a general idea how much your cards are worth.

  • Step 2 – Is there writing on the backs of your cards? STOP! Your cards are close to worthless. Condition is everything to collectors. Generally collectors only want Near Mint – Mint condition cards. For a detailed description of card conditions check out PSA’s website.
  • Step 3 – Look at the corners of the cards, are they fuzzy, rounded in any way, are there any creases? STOP! Your cards are close to worthless. Condition is everything to collectors. Generally collectors only want Near Mint – Mint condition cards. For a detailed description of card conditions check out PSA’s website.
  • Step 4 – Are your cards off centered? Is the main picture centered within the border? PAUSE! If the centering is 70/30 or better and the card is otherwise in nice condition continue, otherwise, STOP! Your cards are close to worthless. Condition is everything to collectors. Generally collectors only want Near Mint – Mint condition cards. For a detailed description of card conditions check out PSA’s website.
  • Step 5 – Check the numbers on your cards.
    • If your card is numbered 1-41 or L1-L14 you have cards from Chrome OS 1. I’m sorry to say these aren’t in large demand, and can be found easily online for sale. Complete sets will go in the $20-$25 range, while you can only expect to get .05-.10 or less per card in lots. Collectors looking to complete their sets might go .50-$1 for the few remaining cards they need.
      • If any of your cards are the same as the base card, but have a different color borders and are shiner, you have a parallel card. Chrome 1 had many different parallels; Refractor (Shiny silver), Xfractor (Shiny squares throughout card), Prism (Shiny triangles throughout card), Atomic Refractor (Random shiny shapes), Gold, and Superfractor (Gold hexagons throughout card.) I encourage you to check eBay for pricing as prices fluctuate greatly depending on subject and color. Specifically 1a/1b and 8a/8b will sell for much more than prices below.
        • Refractors generally will sell for $1
        • Xfractors and Atomic Refractors generally will sell for $1-$2
        • Prisms generally will sell for $5-$10
        • Gold Refractors generally will sell for $10-$50
        • Superfractors = Jackpot! These are 1 of 1 and each will sell for $100’s. Nice Card!
      • If any of your cards look like pencil drawings you have a card from the Concept Sketch Insert set. Those are slightly more valuable than regular base cards, expect to get .50 each.
      • Do you have a “c” card? Does you card number have ##c? If so you have a rare “c” name card. I encourage you to check eBay as prices for “c” cards fluctuate based on series and subject. Chrome 1 “c” cards will get $60-$100 each.
