Topps Announces 2022 Topps Garbage Pail Kids Non-Flushable Tokens NFT Collection

Topps is officially bringing Garbage Pail Kids back into the digital NFT world. Today the company announced 2022 Garbage Pail Kids Non-Flushable Tokens NFT Collection. The set features brand new art with gags based on NFTs and the Crypto industry. All artwork on the set was completed by artists Joe Simko, Brent Engstrom, David Gross, Justin Gammon, Darrin Pepe, and Jerad Hill. The base set consists of 24 cards, there are no a/b versions in this set, all different artwork. In addition to the base set, there are five additional variations of the cards to collect in different rarities. Each card is available in; Base (Common), Facsimile Signature (Uncommon), Animation (Rare), Animation Facsimile Signature (Super Rare), Golden Animation (Epic), and Golden Animation Facsimile Signature (Legendary).

There will be just one pack type for sale. Each pack will cost $40 and contain 8 NFTs. Each pack guarantees at lease 1 Uncommon and 1 Rare or higher NFT. There will be a total of 3,840 packs of the collection for sale by Topps. Collectors have the following chances of pulling the following variations; Common (39.1%), Uncommon (28.1%), Rare (18.8%), Super Rare (9.4%), Epic (3.1%), and Legendary (1.5%). Topps has promised there will be collection challenges and prizes announced soon.

This set marks GPK’s return to the digital NFT world after a long absence. The set is being released on Topps new ToppsNFTs.com platform. Collectors who were familiar with Topps’ previously released GPK NFTs on the WAX Blockchain will want to take note of the differences between the two platforms. ToppsNFTs.com is on the Avalanche Blockchain. Topps has built their own closed platform and marketplace to house all their NFTs. This means collectors no longer have to purchase tokens to buy NFTs. All sales of packs and individual cards are done via credit card. Since the new platform is a closed system, many of the features found on WAX do not yet exists on ToppsNFTs.com. NFTs can only be bought and sold on the new website. Minimum listing price per NFT is $2. There is no wallet access, therefore NFTs can not be traded. NFTs  also can’t be moved off of the platform. Other GPK NFTs on the WAX Blockchain also can not be moved onto the new platform. International withdrawal is in its infancy, and has only launched for a couple of countries. Topps has also had numerous growing pains with errors and uptime on their website. Topps has promised many of these features, with updated timelines well into 2023-2024.

Collectors who don’t already have an account setup will want to make sure they complete some steps ahead of time. They should go to ToppsNFTs.com and create a new account. In order to buy and sell NFTs on the platform, collectors will need to verify their identity on the new account within the account settings. They can also add a credit card for payments and bank information for withdrawals.

The 2022 GPK Non-Flushable Tokens NFT Collection is set to launch on 11/17/22 at 1:00 PM EST. The complete checklist, including pictures of all the base cards, can be found here. Below are some examples of the animations and press release from Topps for the release.

Garbage Pail Kids Nifty Kids Sales Info, Re-roll Announced

After the 48 hour sales window ended, the sales results are in for Garbage Pail Kids Nifty Kids NFTs. A total of 2,396 Nifty Kids packs were distributed during the event. There were originally 10,000 packs made available for the sale. Not all packs were sold as the company distributed a number of free packs to makeup for an early error during the event.

During the opening hours of the sale an error in attributes was spotted by collectors. The attributes were reversed on the NFT and did not match the picture or ID of the Nifty Kid character. Raredrop was able to identify and resolve the problem pretty quickly, and packs opened up later in the day were correct. Anyone who opened a pack and received an “error” Nifty Kid was automatically airdropped a free pack for each error they opened. The following day the company launched a “fix it” button for collectors who want their Nifty Kid corrected. The button burns the error NFT and issues a new corrected Nifty Kid with a new ID.

After the sale ended, Raredrop and Topps announced they would be launching a Re-roll feature to anyone who has opened a Nifty Kid. The feature will give collectors the option to turn in their current Nifty Kid and be issued a new one from the random generator. They Re-roll event will remain open until all the remaining 7,604 Nifty Kids have been issued. Topps has not yet released the time when the Re-roll event will begin.

Topps Returning to WAX with Garbage Pail Kids Nifty Kids NFTs

Topps today announced Garbage Pail Kids Nifty Kids, a brand new digital NFT product on the WAX blockchain. The new NFT set is set to be available on 10/28/21 at 1:00 PM EST. This NFT set will be unlike anything Topps has offered before. Nifty Kids will offer 10,000 unique GPK combinations available as 1/1 NFTs. To purchase a random combination, collectors will go to the RareDrop.io website. Collectors can also browse all the combinations on the website. Each combination can only be purchased once, so every NFT GPK character will be different and a 1/1. Each GPK Nifty Kid can be purchased for 329 WAX, which is nearly $100 based on current market pricing. There are six different characters with six different body pieces; body, head, eyes, accessories, mouth, and hairstyle. The characters available are Adam Bomb, Dead Ted, Mad Mike, Nasty Nick, Tee-Vee Stevie, and Wrapping Ruth. With six characters and six different body parts, there are 46,656 unique combinations possible, but Topps is limiting the purchase to 10,000 for this series. The Nifty Kids will only be available to purchase for 48 hours. Topps says it is planning to use these Nifty Kids in the future to unlock free NFT airdrops, an exclusive member area in discord, and more. See pictures below for each kid as themselves with their own pieces before being mixed up, as well as some random versions.

2021 has been a year marked by transition for collectors who have collected Topps NFTs (Non-Fungible Tokens). Topps originally launched their NFT project on the WAX Blockchain back in May 2020 with the release of Garbage Pail Kids OS 1. Topps went on to launch numerous GPK sets as well as other brands like MLB and Godzilla. The last time GPK collectors saw NFTs from Topps was the Food Fight release in Feb 2021. After the early 2021 NFT releases, Topps went quiet. All releases stopped and communication from the company on Telegram and Discord ceased. This was until the launch of the Bazooka Joe NFT brand on the ToppsNFTs.com website in July. Much to collector’s surprise, Topps new website was built to use the AVAX blockchain (Avalanche). Since the launch of Bazooka Joe, Topps has launched other brands like MLB, Bundesliga soccer, and Godzilla on their new ToppsNFTs.com website. Topps representatives have returned to online groups like Discord, and have been participating in answering users questions. However, the company has not been clear on the future of Topps NFTs, their partnership with WAX, and GPK NFTs. After months of inactivity on WAX, the company returns with the new GPK Nifty Kids set.

Since the launch of ToppsNTS.com, Topps representatives haven’t revealed much on the future of their partnership with WAX and what is to become of the legacy NFTs already released on the WAX platform. WAX representatives recently revealed in Telegram that Garbage Pail Kids NFTs are contractually tied to the WAX blockchain based on their contract with Topps. The remaining length of the contract has not been made public. GPKNews has asked Topps for comment on the claims made by the WAX representatives, but Topps has not issued any comments on their current relationship with WAX. Topps has also not shared any other future plans for GPK NFTs, including any future pack based releases. These unanswered questions bring a lot of uncertainty for collectors. GPKNews has asked Topps if they will continue with GPK NFTs on WAX, or move them to their own platform, once any contractual agreements end. Again, Topps has not responded to questions on their future roadmap for GPK NFTs. GPKNews asked Topps if their legacy WAX NFT projects would continue to be supported. The various GPK releases are spread across multiple websites and NFT standards. GPKNews also asked if there would be a bridge in the future to move legacy GPK NFTs from WAX to their new ToppsNFTs.com wallet. Again, Topps did not respond to any questions regarding support for legacy WAX NFTs. This also includes questions to Topps on the announced Tiger King burn event they had been working on prior to the launch of their new website. Until Topps is willing to share their roadmap and partnership info with WAX, collectors are left to speculate on the future of GPK NFTs.

Info on Topps Digital Food Fight Redemption/Winter Con Releases

Topps Digital will be all about the Food Fight this week. To coordinate with Topps physical release, Topps Digital is making huge steps forward in luring collectors to digital GPKs. For the first time, boxes of 2021 Series 1 Garbage Pail Kids Food Fight physical cards contain redemption cards for WAX Blockchain GPK Packs. Each boxed product, Blasters, Retail Display, and Collector Boxes contain one redemption card. Redemption cards can also be found 1:4 Fat Packs. Redemption cards feature the artwork of GPK artist Nik Castaneda, who previously did artwork for the digital OS 2 set and also did sketch cards in the physical set. The back of the card features a scratch off code and instructions for redeeming. Collectors who pull a redemption can redeem the code at https://play.toppsapps.com/redeem. New collectors to the WAX Blockchain can create a new account and WAX wallet at the site as well. There doesn’t appear to be an expiration date on the redemption card. The redemption website officially launches on 2/24.

Each redemption code can be redeemed for a 3 card pack of Garbage Pail Kids Food Fight. The cards in the digital set are different from the physical cards. The digital set contains 11 new pieces of artwork all done by Nik Castaneda. Redemption packs contain 3 “a” cards from the all new digital set. The cards are available in five different rarities. Collectors have the chance to pull Base, Prism, Sketch, Artist Autograph, and Golden. Cards are on the Atomic Assets NFT standard and packs can be opened and cards viewed at the Atomic Hub website. The first 10,000 redemption packs will be pre-minted. This will enable more collectors to have the chance at pulling low minted cards. Any redemptions after 10,000 will be minted on demand.

You may be asking yourself, if I can get the “a” cards from redemption packs, how do I get the “b” names. The answer lies in this week’s Topps Digital Winter Con 2021. Winter Con is scheduled to take place 2/25-2/28, and is completely virtual. During those dates, Topps will be offering 3 card packs for sale. Packs will be on sale during the Con. Each day of the Con there will be 2,450 packs available for sale. The launch time varies each day, collectors will want to attend Topps Winter Con to find out the release times on a daily basis. The packs will only be able to be purchased via credit card. Packs purchased at Winter Con contain 3 “b” cards, with collectors having the same chance to pull five different versions; Base, Prism, Sketch, Artist Autograph, and Golden. Unlike the redemption packs, the Winter Con packs will not be pre-minted. The first packs opened will receive low mints.

Topps Digital to Launch WAX Garbage Pail Kids Food Fight Packs During Winter Con

During today’s Topps Digital Digicast on Twitch, it was announced there will be a new Garbage Pail Kids Food Fight digital set with packs for sale on WAX during next week’s Topps Winter Con 21. Not a lot of details were shared about the upcoming set. Packs will be available and sold on the WAX Blockchain during every day of the Winter Con, scheduled for 2/25-2/28. These packs are separate from the redemption codes that will be inserted into boxes and packs of physical GPK Food Fight Packs. There is sure to be much more information in the coming days.

In other news, Topps Digital tweeted out the picture above this morning showing some of the various card types that can be pulled via the redemption codes that can be found in physical GPK Food Fight boxes and packs. There appears to be prism, gold, and artist autographs. No other details have been revealed about the redemption program yet.

2021S1 Garbage Pail Kids Food Fight to Include Redemptions for WAX Digital Collectibles

Update: After talking to Topps they have confirmed with GPKNews that all product SKUs will contain NFT codes, 1 per box (Fat Packs will be 1:4.)

Topps Digital continues to get serious about getting collectors involved in the digital NFTs on the WAX Blockchain. Today, via their Twitter account, they announced there will be codes inserted into Blasters of 2021 Series 1 Garbage Pail Kids Food Fight that can be redeemed for exclusive GPK WAX Blockchain collectibles. The included picture shows artwork done by GPK artist Nik Castaneda. No other details around the promotion has been released yet. More info to come! 2021S1 Garbage Pail Kids Food Fight is scheduled to be released on 2/24/21.

Topps Digital Launching Garbage Pail Kids Gamestonk on WAX

Update: Packs went on sale and promptly sold out in 17 mins. Here are the odds for the various cards.

Topps Digital is continuing their recent renewed focus on GPK launches today by launching Garbage Pail Kids Gamestonk on the WAX Blockchain. The set is based off the wildly popular online physical GPK Gamestonk set sold just a couple weeks ago. However, there are two new pieces of artwork for the set. The set contains 12 cards, 4 pieces from the physical set, and 2 new pieces, all with a/b versions. (5-6a/b from the physical set were replaced by the new cards.) The new cards were illustrated by Lars Kommienezuspadt and colored by Adam Mathison-Sward. This release is a little different than the recent Burnventure release, similar to other GPK mini releases. Packs are planned to go on sale at the Atomic Assets website at 6:00 PM EST. There are a total of 5000 packs available. Packs can only be purchased using WAX tokens. Each 3 card pack will cost the equivalent of $10 in WAX. For the first time the cards in the packs will be pre-minted. That means everyone will have the same chance at receiving a low mint numbered card in each pack. No longer do the first packs opened get the rewards. There is no burn mechanic planned for this release. Collectors opening packs will have the chance to pull base cards (B – Common/A – Uncommon), along with parallels; Prismatic (B – Rare/A – Epic), Sketch (B – Rare/A – Epic), Raw (Epic), Gold (Legendary), and Signature (Legendary) (only for 2 new pieces.) This article will be updated after the release with info on cards odds and sellout status.

Topps Digital Launches Garbage Pail Kids Bernventures Digital WAX Set

If you’ve been awake in the last week you’ve certainly seen some of the hundreds of Bernie Sanders memes taking over the internet. US senator and former Presidential candidate Bernie Sanders was photographed at the inauguration last week casually hanging out in his mittens, and the internet took it from there. Topps Digital is adding to the fun today by launching Garbage Pail Kids Bernventures set on the WAX Blockchain. The set launched as a surprise launch today at 3:30 PM EST at https://gpkbernventures.com. Cards were launched using the Atomic Assets standard. Packs are available for purchase in WAX only, with the cost being $5 worth of WAX tokens. Each pack comes with 2 different digital cards. There is no limit to packs available for sale. Packs will remain for sale for 3 days, with the sale ending at Friday, 1/29 at 1:00 PM EST. There is a countdown timer and packs sold counter on the website. Packs can be opened on the website under the inventory tab. Cards can also be viewed and sorted on the same tab. (At press time pictures were not displaying for cards/packs and the sorting feature for cards was not working. Topps is working on a resolution.)

The set contains 9 cards done by Topps artist Lars Kommienezuspadt. There are both a and b name versions making the total set 18 cards. Collectors can pull four different types of cards from packs; base (Base “a” 59.5%/Base “b” “?”) , rare artist sketches (10.5%), epic artist raws (3%), and legendary artist signatures (0.5%). The number of cards minted is not set and will be limited by the number of packs sold during the 3 day event.

Perhaps the main draw of the sale is the burn event that will go on at the same time as the sale. Once collectors open their cards they can burn then to earn points. Each card type has the following Burn Value: Base b (1 point), Base a (2 points), Artist Sketch (5 points), Artist Raws (20 points), Artist Signatures (150 points). Collectors can burn cards within the inventory tab by clicking on each card type. Cards can be burned only until 2/1/21. At the end of the event collectors will earn 1 Mitten Pack for every 5 points they have burned. Mitten packs will contain base mitten cards along with the chance to receive Golden Mitten cards, and rare animation cards.

Topps Readies Burn4Gold Digital Garbage Pail Kids WAX Event

Update:

Waxstash is supporting Topps’ OS2 Burn Event and making it easy with features such as filtering, sorting by highest mint, counting the total number of cards you burned, and bundle burns allowing you to burn as many as 40 cards in one transaction. Group admins should pin/tweet/share this post which will provide step by step instructions on how to use the burn features.

Step 1: Go to waxstash.com or waxstash.com/markets/gpk-simple – either will bring you to the Waxstash GPK market.

Step 2: ‘SIGN IN’ with your wax cloud or anchor wallet and go to ‘INVENTORY’.

Step 3: You should now see your inventory of OS2 Base cards already sorted by highest mint. Use the checkbox in the lower left corner of each card to select the cards you want to burn. You must select at least one to see the ‘BURN’ option and you may select as many as 40.

Step 4: Once you select your cards click the ‘ACTION’ button to dropdown the ‘TOPPS BURN EVENT’ button and click it.

Step 5: Review all the cards you selected.

Step 6: If you’re ready to burn the cards click the checkbox to confirm you understand the Topps Burn Event and the click the ‘BURN’ button.

Step 7: Your wallet will ask you to review and authenticate the transaction as usual.

CONGRATULATIONS! You burned NFT assets.

BONUS COUNTER: You should notice the ‘INVENTORY’ button contains a counter that will let you know the total number of assets you have burned between December 4th, 12:00pm EST and December 9th, 12:00pm EST. Keep in mind this counter will count all assets you burn during this period whether or not they are GPK OS2 Base cards or any other NFT so for the most accurate results be sure to only burn OS2 Base cards during this period.

A couple of week’s ago, Topps announced a special burn event for their WAX Blockchain digital set, Garbage Pail Kids OS 2. According to the company, the event is set to begin tomorrow, Friday 12/4 at 12:00 PM EST, and will end on Wednesday 12/9 at 12:00 PM EST. Collectors who burn OS 2 base cards, and open OS 2 packs, will be eligible to enter to win a random OS 2 Gold card. Cards burned or packs opened can only be done during the contest to be eligible. Collectors can quality in four different tiers.

  • Tier 1
    • Requirement for Qualification: Burn 5 BASE Cards
    • Unique Gold Cards Available: 40
  • Tier 2
    • Requirement for Qualification: Burn 10 BASE Cards; Open 3 Standard Packs
    • Unique Gold Cards Available: 25
  • Tier 3
    • Requirement for Qualification: Burn 30 BASE Cards; Open 2 Mega Packs
    • Unique Gold Cards Available: 10
  • Tier 4
    • Requirement for Qualification: Burn 100 BASE Cards; Open 1 Ultimate Pack
    • Unique Gold Cards Available: 5

Topps made a change to the rules in order to try to prevent users using multiple wallets and entering multiple times. Now all collectors can enter each Tier multiple times. Collectors will automatically qualify for as many times as they are eligible based on the total cards burned and packs opened. For example, a collector burning 205 cards, and opening 2 Ultimate packs will qualify 41 times in Tier 1 and 2 times in Tier 4.

How do collectors burn cards and open packs? Here’s a quick guide as supplied by Topps.

Burning ‘OS2’ cards can be done easily by following the steps below:

  1. Login in to WCW on https://wax.tools.simpleassets.io/
  2. Under “My Assets” select an NFT and click the burn icon (see attached)

If fans have any unopened ‘OS2’ packs, they can open them up using this flow below:

  1. Login in to https://topps.wdny.io/
  2. Select “My Inventory” in the nav bar
  3. Under the ‘Your Unopened Packs’ tab, select the pack you would like to open
  4. Select ‘Open’

Gold cards will be awarded after the event. Topps also shared that the Goes Exotic burn mechanic and the new Topps WAX website experience are scheduled to launch in Q1 of 2021. New GPK sets will take a backseat for a while as Topps focuses on other properties and the new website.

Topps Announces Burn for Gold WAX Digital Event

Topps Digital announced today, on their Topps Digicast Podcast, a number of announcements related to the WAX Blockchain. After selling out of OS2 packs just a few weeks ago, Topps has been quiet on the WAX front. However, it appears they’ve been busy working on some improvements for the WAX Blockchain experience.

The first announcement was the Topps Blockchain Experience website. Currently in development, there will be a desktop and mobile version of the website. The website hopes to expand and improve on the current experience that is offered to collectors. On the podcast some screenshots were shown of the card catalog, store, and trading sections. The mobile experience was also shown. No other details, including release date were announced. However, the current website experience has been one of the biggest complaints for new collectors, so this is sure to be an improvement. Topps did say the website would debut along side the long anticipated burn event for GPK Goes Exotic cards.

The next announcement was the Topps Burn 4 Gold OS 2 event set to take place Dec. 4 – Dec. 9. Topps will be awarding 80 total OS 2 Gold WAX digital cards randomly to collectors who qualify by completing various events during the event. There are four tiers collectors can qualify in. Collectors can qualify in Tier 1, (40 Gold cards), by burning 5 OS 2 Base cards. To qualify in Tier 2, (25 Gold cards), collectors will have to burn 10 OS 2 base cards, and open 3 Standard Packs. For Tier 3, (10 Gold cards), collectors will have to burn 30 OS 2 Base cards and open 2 Mega Packs. Finally to qualify in Tier 4, (5 Gold cards), collectors must burn 100 OS 2 Base cards and open 1 Ultimate Pack. Collectors can only do the above actions during the event, not before. Collectors are also eligible to qualify for all 4 tiers, and have a chance to win up to 4 different gold cards. No other details including instructions on how to burn cards to enter were offered.

Topps also announced they recently created an internal Topps Blockchain team that will be in charge of all future Topps WAX Blockchain releases. Finally, they announced their next property to launch NFTs on the WAX Blockchain, Disney Alien Quadilogy, would be releasing soon.
