After three weeks of sales, did music fans show up for this year’s Rock and Roll HOF set? Today Topps revealed the print run for 2017 Garbage Pail Kids Rock and Roll Hall of Lame set. This 17 cards online exclusive set was a mix of GPK and Wacky Packages. The set was based off of this year’s Rock & Roll Hall of Fame ceremony. This set marked the first time a a/b/c online version of a GPK card was offered. After three weeks sales of the set was in the low 200’s for all the cards. Sales for this set did much better than the previous awards set, the Not-Scars. The Wacky Packages cards led the way in sales, with their GPK counterparts not far behind. Here is how the final sales numbers ended up.
1A: New Wave Dave/1B: Band Leader Letterman – 209
2A: No-Show Neil/2B: Yawning Young – 203
3A: Drum Circle Dave/3B: Irate Irons/3C: Mad Matt – 217
4A: Jeffrey B. Goode/4B: Electric Light Lynne – 202
In keeping with the awards tradition, Topps starts off the week with a set based on this past weekend’s Rock & Roll Hall of Fame ceremonies. Today Topps launched 2017 Garbage Pail Kids Rock & Roll Hall of Lame set. The set consists of 17 total cards with both GPK and Wacky Packages. There are six new GPK paintings, five available in a/b pairs, and one card available as a a/b/c triple name. Rounding out the set is four individual Wacky Packages cards. The individual Wackys and the five GPK a/b pairs can be purchased for $9.99, while the GPK triple name card is available for $14.99. The entire 17 card set is available for $44.99. After an much publicized and controversial ending to the Oscars, would that help out sales of the GPK Not-Scars set? Topps has revealed the print run for Garbage Pail Kids 2017 The Not-Scars set. This 18 card set featured eight GPK, (offered in a/b sets), and two Wacky Packages cards. The set was on sale for seven days following the end of the Oscars. Collectors were not willing to give any awards to this years set. The GPK cards all sold right around what the recent political GPK cards have been going for, in the 140-150 range. The Wackys meanwhile saw a sharp decrease compared to other sets, with both cards unable to break the 180 mark in sales. Historically entertainment sets have been tough sellers for Topps, and this set ended up being one of the lowest sales wise. Here are how the final print run numbers came in as revealed on topps.com.
After the finish to the Oscars last night, you knew Topps would take advantage. For the second year in a row Topps has released an online exclusive set based on the Oscars. Today Topps launched Garbage Pail Kids The Not-Scars 2017. Of course card #1 in the set focuses on the crazy ending. The set contains eight different GPKs offered in two card a/b name sets. Each two card a/b set or Wacky card can be purchased for $9.99 each, or the entire 18 card set can be purchased for $49.99. Free shipping is being offered via the SmartPost option. The set will be for sale on topps.com for 7 days. Topps will reveal the print run at the end of the sale. Here is the checklist, along with pictures of the cards.
