2021 Series 2 Garbage Pail Kids GPK Goes on Vacation Retail Sell Sheet

The last week has been filled with GPK news. Today brings us the retail sell sheets for 2021 Series 2 Garbage Pail Kids GPK Goes on Vacation. There are a number of changes being made to the retail products found in Targets and Walmarts. It appears Fat Packs are a thing of the past. As with Chrome 4, there are no Fat Packs being offered by Topps for the next retail release. Blasters and Retail Display boxes will be the two options available for big box retailers. Because there are no Fat Packs, Purple parallels are also no longer being produced. Collectors can continue to find Green parallels in all retail packs. Route 66 Asphalt (/66), Fool’s Gold (/50), Printing Plates, Regular Sketch cards, and Artist Autos will be also randomly inserted into all pack types throughout the product. A new insert card, Don’t Make Me Pull this Car Over, will be inserted into all retail packs types in 1:3 packs. These cards will featured the theme of the torture that is being crammed into a car for a road trip.

Retail Display boxes are now being advertised by Topps on the sell sheet as being Retail + Hobby Display boxes. Keep in mind these are the same product. There is no “H” designating them as Hobby. They do however come with some exclusive items. Spit Blue parallels (/99) can be found in Display boxes. Famous Landmarks by Tom Bunk can be found in Display Boxes only. The returning Bunk puts his GPK twist on iconic destinations. These will be inserted 1:3 packs.

Blaster boxes (aka Value Box), will continue to contain some exclusive items. Blaster boxes will come packaged in 1 of 3 collectible luggage themed tins. These boxes will once again contain 10 packs, and carry a MSRP of $22 per tin. Phlegm Yellow parallels can only be found in Blasters, and will be inserted 1:5 packs. The Travel Poster Sticker insert set is also a Blaster box exclusive, and will come 3 cards per tin. Collectors will also get the chance to pull Loaded Puzzle and Panoramic sketch cards from these tins.

Much like with GPK Chrome 4, release dates and allocations are up in the air. The product is being heavily allocated on the retail side with customers only being able to pre-order a limited number of cases. The sell sheets advertise the set will be available September 2021, while the case pricing sheets have a release date of Nov. 24, 2021. GPKNews reached out to Topps for clarification on the released date, and was told to expect the set in the Fall of 2021. GPKNews will update everyone once an exactly release date is known. 2021 Garbage Pail Kids Chrome OS 4 Retail Sell Sheet

Late last week Topps released Hobby information for 2021 Garbage Pail Kids Chrome OS 4. Today the retail information is out, and there are quite a few changes this time around. With this release Topps will only be offering Value (Blaster) Boxes for the retail store SKUs. The previously offered Fat Packs in Chrome OS 3 are no more. There will be two versions of the Blasters, a pre-priced and non pre-priced Blaster. Each Blaster this time around will contain 6 of the 4-card packs. Each blaster is guaranteed 3 Atomic Refractors. Blasters will carry the usual $20 MSRP, and once again will come 40 to a case. The distributor GPKNews spoke with also mentioned sales of Blasters from Topps will be heavily allocated. It wasn’t clear if the allocations are limited to non big box retailers or if the product as a whole will be allocated.

The retail sell sheet once again describes the set as a 100 card base set featuring the 42 original OS 4 characters, along with 6 new paintings done by David Gross, Joe Simko, and Brent Engstrom. C Name variations will also be available in retail, scheduled to fall 1:100 packs. Artist autographs of Tom Bunk and David Burke will also be inserted, with those limited to /50 per card. For the first time in a GPK chrome release, Gold and Black Refractors will be Value Box exclusives. In previous releases those were Hobby only parallels. Atomic Refractors will also return, but this time instead of being wrapped separately in a 3 per box pack, they are advertised as being inserted 1:2 packs. Here is a complete rundown of parallels that can be found in Value boxes.

GPKNews was able to obtain come clarifying information on the release date for the product. Topps had sent out conflicting information with the sell sheets advertising the release date as “November 2021”, and the case SKU form showing “Week of December 31 2021”. Topps told GPKNews the the set was planned for November, but after the sell sheets were approved to send out, the date had already slipped due to production issues. Right now Topps is planning for a December release for GPK Chrome OS 4, with an exact date to come at a later time. Topps Changes Blaster/Release Date for 2021S1 Garbage Pail Kids Food Fight

Just over a week ago Topps announced the first set of 2021, Series 1 Garbage Pail Kids Food Fight. New information sent to distributors today shows Topps is making changes to the info on the sell sheet. The retail sell sheet had information on it about collectible Refrigerator Tins that would be the packaging for Value “Blaster” Boxes. There will indeed be 4 different lids on these boxes. However, due to the special boxes, the configuration of the Value Box is different than what Topps originally sent to distributors. Value boxes for 2021S1 will contain double the packs of what collectors are use to. Value Boxes will come with 10 retail packs. The boxes will continue to contain only 1 pack of 3 Celebrity Chef insert cards. Despite the changes, Value Box cases remain at 40 boxes. Topps is also raising the MSRP of Value Boxes. The original price sheets had the MSRP for Value boxes at $10.99, the new configuration will be set at $22.00.

That’s not the only change. At some point during the release of the sell sheets Topps sent out mixed messages on the release date for the set. The Hobby price sheets had 1/20/21 as the release date, while the Retail price sheets had 2/24/21. GPKNews has confirmed with Topps that the release date is indeed 2/24/21. This should help as collectors were already looking at releases bunched together due to the delay of 2020S2.

2020 Series 2 Garbage Pail Kids 35th Anniversary Retail Sell Sheet

After yesterday’s release of the Hobby sell sheet, today brings us the 2020 Series 2 Garbage Pail Kids 35th Anniversary retail sell sheet. The format of the second series of 2020 is much the same as the first series of the year, Late to School, with just a couple of changes. The base set still appears to be numbered 1-100a/b, but the set features cards from 5 different themes. The themes help celebrate Garbage Pail Kids through the last 35 years. Collectors can expect to see familiar characters and art styles throughout all eras of Garbage Pail Kids. Like Late to School the set will have back art, featuring puzzles, checklists, and more.

Of course Retail Display boxes are back once again. These 24 pack boxes were not very popular with Collectors with the Late to School set since Topps removed the Yellow Parallels. In order to help rectify that, the Spit Blue Parallels (/99), formerly found in Collector boxes, have moved to Retail Display boxes. While this increases the value of Retail Display boxes, it hurts the Collector box as there was no value replacement for them. Green Parallels return 1 per pack in all retail types. Gold Parallels also can be found in all pack types, however this time they will be /35, instead of the usual /50. Artist Autos and Printing plates are also available in all pack types. The Retail Display boxes will be the only place to find the “No Ragerts” Temporary Tattoos. The artwork on these are done in American Traditional tattoo style. Finally, collectors can also hunt for regular sized sketch cards.

Value boxes will be available again in retail stores like Target and Wal-Mart. These 5 pack boxes will once again come in 40 box cases, a change Topps made with the Late to School set. The Phlegm Yellow parallels will be back in Value boxes again, one per box. Midlife Crisis insert cards will appear 3 per Value box, wrapped in a separate cellophane wrapper. These will be classic characters facing midlife and millennial issues. Also just like Late to School, Value boxes are scheduled to feature both Loaded and Panoramic sketches. This didn’t happen with the Late to School set, as Topps switched the Pano and Triptych sketches during production.

The last retail pack type will be the familiar Fat Packs. Fat Packs will see the return of 1 Jelly Purple parallel per pack. Each pack will also include 2 Fan Favorite insert cards. The sell sheet says these will be the favorite GPKs as voted on by fans. No word yet on how or when Topps will hold voting.

The sell sheet also advertises that collectors will have a chance to have a custom GPK created of themselves. To view the retail sell sheet click here, or see below for pictures. 2020 Series 2 Garbage Pail Kids 35th Anniversary is set to hit store shelves on 9/23/20.
