Topps Launches Final Project 70 x GPK Mashup

Today marks the final day of the year long Project 70 baseball card online set. With that also comes the final GPK mashup in the set. Topps today launched Project 70 Card 936 Ken Griffey Jr. by Keith Shore. The card features a GPK version of Hall of Famer Griffey swimming in a sea of Shore’s Project 2020 Griffey card. The normal Garbage Pail Kids banner is replaced with a Seattle Mariners banner, and the nameplate reads Collector Ken. Collectors buying the card have the random chance of receiving a 99k Ken “b” name, Rainbow Foil parallel /70, and a Gold parallel 1/1. The card can be purchased for $19.99 each, in a lot of 5 for $81.49, or a lot of 10 for $144.99. Shipping is free when choosing the SmartPost option. The onslaught of Garbage Pail Kids being featured in the Project 70 online baseball card set from Topps continues. Today Topps launched Project 70 Card 869 Ichiro by Ermsy. This is Ermsy’s final Project 70 card and the 5th to feature a GPK character. The card features future Hall of Famer Ichiro together with classic GPK character Weird Wendy. As Topps begins to wind down the Project 70 baseball card set, the mashups with Garbage Pail Kids continue to surface. Today Topps launched Project 70 Card 838 1986 Stan Musial by Keith Shore. This is the fourth of five planned GPK mashups in the set from Keith Shore. The card features the Cardinals legend as GPK Handy Randy, now named Hand Musial. The GPK banner is redone with a St. Louis Cardinals banner. Collectors who order a card have the chance to randomly receive a rainbow foil parallel /70, or a gold parallel 1/1. This mashup includes one of the most sought after baseball cards from around the beginning of the 1900’s with GPK character Nervous Rex. The card features Ryan as a GPK in his Angels uniform. The card is numbered 30a on front with the nameplate as Swollen Ryan. The familiar GPK banner is replaced with California Angels. Topps is going all out featuring Garbage Pail Kids in their Project 70 online product. After yesterday’s New Wave Dave x Acuna Jr. mashup by Ermsy, today brings a Sloshed Josh x Derek Jeter card. Today Topps launched Project 70 Card 737 1986 Derek Jeter by Keith Shore . This is the 5th card to feature GPKs, by three different artists. Artist Keith Shore shared the card last night on his Instagram account. He announced the last 5 cards he would be doing for Project 70 would all be based on his favorite GPKs. Instead of a typical baseball card layout, today’s card is based on the Sloshed Josh GPK, with a few changes. Jeter is drawn as a GPK inside the GPKola bottle. The classic Garbage Pail Kids banner is replaced with a New York Yankees banner. The classic GPK name plate appears with the name Derek Liter.
